Amidst Traffic by Michel Sauret – (Review By Ruby)

Amidst Traffic

**Review By Ruby From The Nerd Girl Page**

*This Book Was Given To Me In Exchange For An Honest Review*

This is a beautifully written collection of short stories. Usually short stories upset me. I always want more, I want to know what happens next and what happened before. And yet as I was plucked from one characters life and hurled into another I never felt annoyed at the change of scenery, only eager to look around. Each new story is carefully connected to the one before it by an invisible thread that weaves through out all the stories, linking it all together. I felt more as though I were reading a novel about ‘life’ from multiple view points than a collection of things.

Occasionally I felt as though I’d been swept up by the butterfly effect as I read these stories. Or that I was some far away observer of human life. As you read you are glimpsing flashes of the good and the bad in people, our mistakes and our triumphs, the mundane and the extraordinary all at once. Sometimes this made me sad, sometimes it made me think and sometimes I just could not stop… Continue reading

Review – Burn This Way By Aubrea Summer V””V

**Over 18 For Language and Violence**

Melanie here aka VampireLovingDork  back  with my review of  Burn This Way by Aubrea Summer  which was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

When I got this book I have to say I was really excited by the description “Hollowed by a loss still unyielding of a perpetrator, Rhiamon Delaney bends to her curiosity and becomes unwillingly entangled in a bloody web of murder, lies and deceit, where the only ones who know the truth may be dead and the ones who want her dead are not alive”.  When you add to the fact that it is a vampyric paranormal romance promising murder and revenge I was all in.

The book starts off really well.  Written from the perspective of the main character Rhia I was quickly able to get a feel for her and how she lived.  The writing is good and the descriptions very easy to get swept up in and the first part is completely action packed.  I was excited.  This boded well.

Sadly for me the book then goes through too many words that I am all to… Continue reading

Finding Monsters by Liss Thomas (Review By Emily – YA Reviewer)

** Review By Emily from The Nerd Girl Page**

Emily here, the YA reviewer from Nerd Girl.  I give YA reviews from a real YA reader.  Here is  my review of  Finding Monsters by Liss Thomas which I was given in exchange for an honest review.

The monsters in this novel were different in a really good way. The author mixed love, adventure, and a little sadness creating the perfect storyline for just about everybody.

The first half of the book was hard for me to keep reading without stopping. It required a lot of concentration and left me with some questions – which were luckily answered later in the book so I am really glad I stuck with it.

The second half was a much faster, easier read, which made me want to do nothing but keep the book in my hand so I could  see what happened . At one point the book had me in tears and yet I had to keep reading!

Lexia (The Deadwood Hunter, #1) by Rachel M. Raithby (Review By Amy)

***Review From Amy Conley For The Nerd Girl Page***

*ARC Copy was given in exchange for an honest review*

Lexia thought she was normal little does she know she’s anything but and her world is about to change forever..

Lincoln has spent his entire life moving place to place on the run seeking revenge…

After sneaking out to attend a party Lexia never expected to be attacked by vampires much less to be able to kill them by herself with her own hands now she finds herself not being able to escape the events that happened on that night and having to pretend everything is fine around her friends and family.. And then she meets Lincoln “Linc” and she is drawn to him so badly and everything comes crashing down around them and secrets come spilling out.. Their lives are about to be forever changed…

My Review:
The book had an exciting start but about halfway through it lost it’s direction a little bit we go from reading how Lexia isn’t what she appears to be and all these non explainable things start happening to her she has super human strength and rapid healing which leaves you wondering just what… Continue reading

By the Fates, Freed (By the Fates, #1) by Patricia D. Eddy (Review By Laura)

**Review By Laura From The Nerd Girl Page**

*I was given this book in exchange for an honest review*

Ealasaid has never known what it feels like to be free, on her sixteenth birthday she tries to run. The devil how has held her captive for years has been waiting for her sixteenth birthday, the day her magic and her aura come into full power. Ealasaid not only doesn’t escape her captivity is worse than anything she has ever endured, she has no voice, no magic, no name and now control over her own body. Years pass as she endures extreme physical, emotional and sexual abuse when one day the devil who owns her brings the wrong customer.

Raven is disgusted that the devil would try to pay him in such a way, when he tries to free the witch there is a connection so strong Raven will do anything to free her.

I enjoyed this story, the magic and the language wasn’t too confusing and the fight scenes were exciting and pulled you in. I sometimes have problems with this sort of story where the girl has been held captive and then she is just fine, within a week… Continue reading

Hell’s Gift by K.S Haigwood (Review By Jaime C)

***Review From Jaime C For The Nerd Girl Page ***

*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.*

This is the second book to K.S. Haigwood’s Save My Soul series. It can be read as a stand alone. Not having read the first one, I got stuck in a few places, but otherwise it was a great book.

This story follows Rhyan, a guardian angel who has been thrown into Hell after a hate filled rant over loosing his human charge to her soulmate.

It is very well written and told from different POV’s, which confused me at first, but after getting into the story it really helped that it was told in this way. Rhyan was kind of whiney, but he grew on me. Getting into the book, you find out he was actually sent to Hell to help his own soulmate get out of Hell and back into Heaven.

K.S. Haigwood has a great imagination and is a natural storyteller. She gives great attention to detail and to her characters, which made this book really enjoyable to read.

Intentional by MK Harkins – (Review By Jaime C)

***Review From Jaime C For The Nerd Girl Page ***
*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.*

Intentional is a romance story, however it isn’t your typical romance story. I liked that. Once you’ve read one romance, you’ve pretty much read them all. This one has a different start, definitely a different ending and twists along the way.

Mattie is madly in love with Jeremy. In fact, they are engaged to be married. Then she is faced with the ultimate betrayal. Mattie leaves everyone behind and tries to make a new start, with new friends, and possibly a new guy. This is where Cade comes in, the tattooed engineer/rock singer. Mattie is very attracted to Cade, then she finds out that everything may not be quite what she thought it was.

A captivating read that had me hooked from page one. I definitely recommend this to any reader who enjoys romance with a few twists!

A First Love Never Dies by Margaret Taylor (Review By Laura)

A first Love Never Dies- Margaret Taylor

***Review From Laura From The Nerd Girl Page ***

*This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review*

I just want to start by saying I loved this book and I love Margaret Taylor’s brain! This story was different and it’s the second book I have read by this author that has given me a new original story or twist.

Janel is returning to her hometown for her high school reunion. It has been twenty years since left and never came back. She takes her second in command Moren with her for support, because not only was Janel bullied horrifically by these people in high school she’s also there for a reason that has nothing to do with her reunion. Moren isn’t even human, Janel now works for Sci-Corp, she hasn’t stepped foot on earth in years. Can Jake, they guy she secretly loved through high school give her what she needs on her short trip back before her time is up?

Janel is strong, independent and a serious heroin. She’s worked her ass off to get where is and she doesn’t take crap from anyone. Moren, every time he… Continue reading
