Green Kitty by Alexandra Faer Bryan (Review By Pauline)

*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.*
This often humorous collection of tales from a grandmother to her grandchild could be easily used as a beginner chapter book or a nightly excursion before bedtime. Perfect for the animal lover. Each chapter contains its own story, usually with an pet or farm animal at it’s center. The central story of a grandchild growing closer to her grandmother through the tales she tells of her past is heartwarming.

Although each colorful illustration was adorable and well done, I kept hoping the next one would arrive sooner than it did, this book would have benefited from having even more of the awesome illustrations. Overall it was a fun read, but the anticipation for the final story left me a little flat. 3.5 stars.

***Review From  Chell For The Nerd Girl Page ***

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.**

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. This book was thrilling and incredibly amusing. Sheriff Penny Miller is smart, funny, tough and most certainly a smart ass, therefore making her my kind of woman. The entire book was full of wit and sarcastic humor, but is also full of action. Haven’t we all imagined what we’ll do if the zombie apocalypse breaks out? I could see myself doing some of the things Sheriff Penny Miller did. Though, she is much more take charge than I am.
Reading this book was thrilling. Trying to figure out how they would not only escape the zombies, but how they would rid themselves of them for good. If you’re looking for romance, you’re not going to find it here. But if you’re looking for action, guns and fighting in the zombie apocalypse, this book is for you.

***Review From Jaime C For The Nerd Girl Page ***
*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.*

When I was given this as an ARC and told that I wouldn’t be able to put it down, I didn’t believe it. I am a believer now!

Meet Liberty. Liberty is a good girl, she does what she’s told. She follows all the rules set for her by her parents. She wears what she’s told to wear, she drinks what is chosen for her, she eats what they want. All Liberty wants is to live up to her name. She wants freedom to be herself. To make her own decisions, to live her own life by her own rules. She wants liberty. In comes Oliver. He is everything Liberty wants but has been told she can’t have. According to her parents, he is help. He is beneath her. But to Liberty, Oliver is that freedom she has been looking for.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the chemistry between Oliver and Liberty. His friends are a laugh. I loved that they cared for Liberty because Oliver does. I loved that Oliver gave Liberty… Continue reading

Review – The Coffee Shop By Lauren Hunter V””V

008

Melanie here aka VampireLovingDork  back  with my review of  The Coffee Shop by Lauren Hunter  which was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

Having just read The Promise by the same author (you can see my review HERE) I was excited to read another book by Lauren Hunter and she certainly didn’t disappoint.

This story is very different from her Regency Paranormal series being set in the present day and will take you on a journey with more twist and turns that even the craziest mountain trail!

What starts off appearing to be a regular boy meets girl love story soon changes into a tale of timelines that would rival even Doctor Who writers for complexity and paradoxes.

Definitely a book that you need to pay attention to but it is worth it even though by the end of it you will feel like your emotions have been pulled through the ringer.  My only complaint would be the ending …. without posting spoilers let me just say it didn’t leave me as satisfied as I had hoped.

Even so I would definitely recommend this for anyone that fancies a little… Continue reading

Review – The Promise By Lauren Hunter V””V

Melanie here aka VampireLovingDork  back  with my review of  The Promise by Lauren Hunter  which was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

The Promise is a regency paranormal love story and a good one at that.  If you added in some vampires it could be in the Colleen Gleason collection and trust me that is high praise indeed!

It was very easy to get swept up in this historical tale of romance and the attention to the details of the period were exquisite! I loved to read about the “Ton” and all the society affairs.  My only complaint is that whilst billed as a Regency Paranormal love story, the paranormal side of it is definitely a minor detail taking a back seat to the much stronger love story.  This didn’t in any way change how much I enjoyed the story I just feel that with a title like that I would have expected that to be more in the forefront.

The language is flowing, the characters strong and I quickly found myself at the end of the story without realizing where the time had gone.

Anyone who likes a… Continue reading

Amidst Traffic by Michel Sauret – (Review By Ruby)

Amidst Traffic

**Review By Ruby From The Nerd Girl Page**

*This Book Was Given To Me In Exchange For An Honest Review*

This is a beautifully written collection of short stories. Usually short stories upset me. I always want more, I want to know what happens next and what happened before. And yet as I was plucked from one characters life and hurled into another I never felt annoyed at the change of scenery, only eager to look around. Each new story is carefully connected to the one before it by an invisible thread that weaves through out all the stories, linking it all together. I felt more as though I were reading a novel about ‘life’ from multiple view points than a collection of things.

Occasionally I felt as though I’d been swept up by the butterfly effect as I read these stories. Or that I was some far away observer of human life. As you read you are glimpsing flashes of the good and the bad in people, our mistakes and our triumphs, the mundane and the extraordinary all at once. Sometimes this made me sad, sometimes it made me think and sometimes I just could not stop… Continue reading

Review – Burn This Way By Aubrea Summer V””V

**Over 18 For Language and Violence**

Melanie here aka VampireLovingDork  back  with my review of  Burn This Way by Aubrea Summer  which was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

When I got this book I have to say I was really excited by the description “Hollowed by a loss still unyielding of a perpetrator, Rhiamon Delaney bends to her curiosity and becomes unwillingly entangled in a bloody web of murder, lies and deceit, where the only ones who know the truth may be dead and the ones who want her dead are not alive”.  When you add to the fact that it is a vampyric paranormal romance promising murder and revenge I was all in.

The book starts off really well.  Written from the perspective of the main character Rhia I was quickly able to get a feel for her and how she lived.  The writing is good and the descriptions very easy to get swept up in and the first part is completely action packed.  I was excited.  This boded well.

Sadly for me the book then goes through too many words that I am all to… Continue reading
