Sunny’s not sure she’s even looking for Mr. Maybe, when her friends decide to find her Mr. Right. Sunny Vale considers herself a dog-loving, romance-reading homebody. But her life goes from dull to deadly when her book club fires her from her own love life and sets her up on six blind dates–one of whom might be with a murderer.

More trouble arrives in the dead of night, in the form of Jake Landon, a mysterious stranger, who breaks into her neighbor’s house and possibly her heart. But Jake is packing more than a loaded gun in his well-fitting Levi’s. He brings an arsenal of secrets and plenty of heat to Sunny’s ho-hum summer.

Jake Landon finds himself caught up in the capers of the sexy blonde in the house next door. But he has his own agenda which doesn’t involve playing hero to a curvy second-grade teacher and babysitting her panty-puking puppy. He’s got other problems like fiery explosions, a missing person…and a parade of jerks Sunny insists on dating. Could Sunny’s Mr. Right be right under her… Continue reading

Just One by Emily Hemmer (Review By Jaime C)

Charlie would love to be anywhere but all fancied up for her little sister’s high society birthday party. Give her a pair of cowboy boots and the trailer park any day. That is, until she falls over in the stilettos her sister insisted she wear. And tall, dark and handsome Alex Ramirez saves the day.

This is a fast read, about four chapters. Charlie is sassy and amusing and Alex is handsome and charming. This is an extremely well written, steamy novella. The dialogue between Charlie and Alex is very witty and the sex scenes are hot. My only complaint is the ending! Now I have to wait to see what happens!

Angelique Le Count is a depressed, alcoholic lonely half angel warrior, with just a spirit to annoy him. His girlfriend left him because of his drinking and when everything become too much, he decides getting drunk and going in search of her is the best idea. This decision sets off a chain of events that makes Angelique sit up and decide if he is ever going to be the warrior he once was.

I wanted to like this book, the plot and story were a good one, but I found myself not being pulled in. Usually if I have to put a book down I can’t wait to get back to it, I didn’t feel that with this book. My pain problem was the writing style, some scenes were way too descriptive and I found myself wondering why I needed all that information, which really just stopped me from enjoying the story. If it wasn’t for this I may have enjoyed the book because Angelique was funny, smart mouthed and sarcastic it was fun being in his head when… Continue reading

Piercing the Fold (Piercing the Fold #1) by Venessa Kimball (Review By Michele)

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.**
Jesca has had reoccurring nightmares since childhood but when they start to lapse over into her everyday life she starts to worry. After a conversation with her professor Ezra about wormholes and traversing through time she soon learns that she is a “Dobrian Guardian” and her purpose is to protect Earth.

Unfortunately I did not completely get into this book and it took me longer than I expected to finish. At first it was really interesting learning about Jesca and her life from the time she was adopted till now. Then about 30-35% into the book I really felt like I was back in science class. The book goes into great detail about Einstein’s theories on how to open up wormholes to other worlds. There were a lot of times during this period I kept catching myself wondering. Around 65-70% the book picked back up and took off! I would have loved the book if there was a little less science lesson I think. :( But I am still going to read the second one and give it… Continue reading

What would you do if you could see other people’s dreams? If you could watch their hidden fantasies and uncover their deepest, darkest secrets…without them ever knowing?

Sara Barnes is about to find out. She thought that all she had to worry about was final exams, Christmas shopping and deciding whether she likes the cute freshman in the next dorm who’s got a crush on her.

But when she starts seeing dreams that aren’t hers, she learns more than she ever wanted to know about her friends, her classmates…and a strange, terrifying man whose dreams could get Sara killed.

“Dream Student” is the thrilling first installment of the Dreams series.

Honestly I’m not sure how to feel about this book. It was a very slow read for me. It wasn’t one of those books that you pick up and can’t put back down. Still, the story was quite interesting (in theory).

Sara, a pre-med student, finds herself able to enter other peoples dreams. An intriguing concept made all the more intriguing by what she… Continue reading

The Proposal (#4)
* I recieved a copy of this short story from the author for free in exchange for an honest review.*
Oh my, poor Gloria. I saw this train wreck coming. I felt surprised how fast the offer with the Downs brothers went bad. I knew they were slimy and that Jon Downs…ohhh, I wanted to punch him in the throat. What a spoiled, self righteous jerk he turned out to be. I’m glad that Gloria took the time to look within herself and try to figure out what was going on with her emotions. I finally grew to like Nathan, even though in the beginning I wasn’t that fond of him. The ending was nice, especially after all the drama that took them up to that point. The author didn’t disappoint. I like that the underlying “love story” was prevalent through the whole series, though it was easy to forget when you are reading all those super steamy scenes. I’m glad Gloria got her happily ever after AND a job she could be proud of. The story flowed… Continue reading

When seventeen-year-old Nissa leaves at her father’s insistence, she believes the trip to Idari will be a short one. Her quest will require her to prevail over the shadows covering the land and save both the elves and dragons from ultimate destruction.
Segolia: Daughter of Prophecy is the story of a young princess’s journey to become a true hero and follow her heart.

My Review:

It’s a unique story with lots of adventure as the character’s travel from one magical world to the next on a mission to save their races and live peacefully together and with that comes a little bit of danger because some refuse to believe in what their doing… Continue reading

Review – Finding Jennifer by Dave Folsom V””V

Melanie here aka VampireLovingDork  back  with my review of  Finding Jennifer which was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Finding Jennifer is a thriller that I have to say completely surprised me.  About halfway through the book I couldn’t see how the author was going to spin out the rest of a story without boring me but I was wrong.  The main character Draper and his sidekick DeCollado are very well written and I enjoyed their adventures so much that I actually contacted the author prior to writing this to see if there were any more “Draper” adventures that I could be a part of.

Filled with action I felt that this book for me only left me a little wanting when it came to the dialogue.  For some reason there were times where I felt that the talking actually pulled me out from the story.  All the time the writing was in the third person context I found it much easier to stay engaged.

A lot of people would probably describe this as a “guy’s book”.  There is a lot of violence, not that it… Continue reading

Marjory’s Child By Melissa Newberry (Review By Cassie)

I was given this book free in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis: As Asa begins classes at her new school, her life goes from normal to crazy. After learning that her mother hadn’t disappeared on a business trip and of her abilities, Asa is in a race against time with her friends to warn the three sisters of the upcoming war and avoid being taken by their enemies, the vampires. Standing in Asa and her friends’ way are vampires seeking to have the three chosen daughters on their side. Through romance, adventure, and constant surprise, follow Asa and her friends as they learn of their abilities and discover the sisters.

I’ll be honest when I read the synopsis for this book I thought it would be right up my alley. Romance, adventure and Vampires what’s not to like, right? I could not have been more wrong.

I have many issues with this book but I will only go over the major ones as this review would be extremely long if I covered EVERYTHING.

First of all the book feels rushed. Like the author was under a deadline and waited… Continue reading
