Book Blurb

With nothing but shattered dreams and a busted heart to fuel the way, Angela Fletcher drove out of Arkansas and never looked back.

Six years later, the new and improved version of the girl she used to be steered clear of romance, love and late night promises. The only pillow talk Angela engaged in these days, was making sure the person on the other pillow knew to lose her number as soon as he left the bed. She only had room for one love in her life and that was Bare Assets, the gentleman’s club she poured her heart and soul into.

Dean Murray was the devil in disguise and had left behind enough broken hearted women to populate a small country. Angela would know. She was an expert markswoman who was skillfully self-trained at shooting down the good, the bad and the ugly of all masculine targets. After all, as the owner of the most successful strip club in Dallas, Texas, it was her business to know men.

Just as she begins to fall for Dean’s silky words and passionate ways, her past and present unexpectedly collide and a meticulously planned future turns into… Continue reading

There Be Dragons by Peter Hallett (Review By Korie)

**Review By Korie from The Nerd Girl Page**

***Book Received From Author In Exchange For An Honest Review***
This is  a tale written by Peter Hallett. It tells the story of a unit of American service men running operations in Vietnam,1968 at the height of the war. It’s pretty much business as usual until they discover that things are anything BUT business as usual.

Centering on a new Lt & his squad, we follow them on their missions. Great research and planning went into the writing. It is evident in the layers of detail given to describe the world these characters live in. You can hear the mosquitoes buzzing by, you can feel the oppressive, exhaustive heat. You get a true sense of the peril they live through. This is war and when the fighting starts, you get a deeper understanding of what soldiers in general, endure. Even amidst great fiction, otherworldly creatures and incredible events, you can still connect with the base elements of being human. As most stories focus on one side of the conflict, this one is no different. Americans vs. Vietnamese/Russians told from the American pov. It reads like a classic war movie & that… Continue reading

Blade of Amber by A.M. Justice (Review by Leah)

**Review By Leah from The Nerd Girl Page**

I received this book from the author in exchange for a review!

I struggled internally with this book from the beginning!

Don’t get me wrong, the book was amazing! A.M. Justice created a hauntingly beautiful world that is complex and diverse, that rivals the world’s created by J.K. Rowling and Tamora Pierce (though A.M. Justice’s world contains more adult themes than either of those authors)! The book is beautifully written, and the characters develop wonderfully as the book goes along!
The main character is Vic, she grew up studying constantly to reach her goal of being a logkeeper! The equivalent of a historian for her people! Just as she reaches her goal she is captured by slavers and sold as a sex slave. Her new master is a despicable man who wants to break her down and make her his completely! She eventually escapes from him but is scarred emotionally.

The country that Vic escapes to, is at war with the country she escaped from. She finds a purpose here and joins the army to fight against the relmans! She meets Ashel who is the son of the rulers of Latha, he… Continue reading

Someone Always Loved You by Brooke Golliher by (Review By Jaime C)

*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

Some things are just fated to happen. It’s his first day on the job and ambulance driver Jay Bartlett has a horrible accident. He hits a pedestrian, one second it’s all clear-then WHAM!, she appears out of nowhere. Jordan was just trying to get to the hospital to be by her husband’s side after his heart attack. Instead, she is in a coma with Jay keeping up a bedside vigil.

This was a very moving story, and it has a twist I never expected. Very well written, with very well developed characters. I just can’t get over the twist. It puts you through all the emotions. Sadness, happiness, anger. I felt very bad for her husband, but for Jay as well. The ending was heartfelt. All in all, a very enjoyable read.

The Forsaken by R.J. Craddock (Review By Julie)

***Review From Julie  from The Nerd Girl Page***

***I received this book from the author in exchange for a review.***

The book begins with a very tantalizing prologue set in a mystical realm. There is no clear link to the first chapter where very young Gwen is fleeing a fire and somehow ends up in the human world. She has plenty of latent powers but is unable to communicate. Gwen has one misadventure after another as she mistreated by nuns, doctors, classmates, child protective services and a foster family. Gwen ages from precocious preschooler to tween in the story, and throughout, there is at least one boy who is chastely smitten with her. They are sometimes welcome protectors and at other times these older boys are mothered by Gwen.

Overall, the story had a good premise and was creative. However, I found the pace was too slow–with too many details at times and then what seemed like a choppy jump to make up for time and move the story along. The action in the book was well written but the rest felt rough and dry. I was expecting some sort of tie back to the prologue, but never found… Continue reading

Knotted by Quenby Olson (Review by Chell)

*Review By Chell From The Nerd Girl Page*

**I received a copy of the is in exchange for my honest opinions.**

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. This book was a cute and easy read. It often made me giggle and wonder what would happen next. The character, Olivia, is visiting her Dad in England for a few weeks in the summer and being there for his wedding…to a much younger woman. I loved all of the characters in the book and loved the way the plot played out. I enjoyed that this book was a good length, but was a light and easy read. It didn’t have my mind over thinking everything. This was the perfect book for my late night reading because I was able to put it down without driving myself crazy wondering what would happen next…even though I didn’t want to put the book down. I would definitely recommend this book to someone looking for a light romance to read.

Last Blood ARC Review plus Giveaway!!

Melanie here aka VampireLovingDork  back  with my review of  Last Blood   (Book  5 In The House Of Comarré Series)  by Kristen Painter  which I was lucky enough to receive as an ARC as I am on the “House Of Pain” Street Team.

Let me start by saying this was my series find of last year.  I haven’t been along for the ride since the beginning but after seeing the beautiful covers I just had to start reading them and I devoured the first 3 straight through and then had to pace around for months waiting for the 4th one to be released.

Last Blood is the 5th and final installment in this particular series and what a story it is.  I was a little nervous to start is as I knew that the end was near, there would be no open hanging cliffs this time for me to obsess over until the next one.  Finally I would have some of the answers I have been waiting for and this always comes with mixed blessings.

But I shouldn’t have worried.  Yet again Kristen Painter takes the story in a direction… Continue reading
