First of all, especially in the Romance industry, not only are we writers, but we are also readers.  So as readers, we tend to be more empathic when it comes to our own readers.  Maybe it is a little do unto others as we would have them do unto us mixed in there.

But for me, I never realized how much of an impact the writer/reader’s relationship was until I became a writer myself.  The interaction between writer and reader is like no other because we are one and the same.

I am having such a wonderful time, being able to interact with readers, as a reader myself, I have Fangirl moments too.  Like when I am doing a takeover, and I find myself doing one with a couple of USA Today and New York Times best-selling Authors, I seriously Fangirl.

It’s amazing to me as a writer, how close we are able to become with our readers, especially in the Romance Genre.  I think it has a lot to do with the fact that we are readers too; we have our Fangirl moments, and that makes this job so much fun.   We have signings, Facebook events, conferences, and of course the Romance Writers of America national conference.

I mean come on, you can’t get this close to Gerard Butler on the Red Carpet or on a movie set. By the way, if you decide to follow me, friend me or meet me, you will find I am convinced he and I were married in past lives.  Ha ha.

We, as writers, are readers first and writers second.  We are the readers and as the readers, don’t we always spread the word about our favorite author or a new book we just read?  What a blessing and honor it is for me to be able to say I am a Romance Novelist, and that we have the best readers and fellow authors in this industry.

We are approachable because we ourselves, are the FANS and we are the readers. Don’t we all love an HEA?   That’s what we get when we pick up a romance novel, well most anyway, some are HEA, for now, stories, and that’s ok too.

We all love a great HEA story, from the time we were little kids until the day we die because HEA shows us all that there is always a Once upon a Time.

So for me, our readers are IMPORTANT, because WE are them and WE are a FAMILY, and as a FAMILY we help each other. And I believe, that is what I found.

So a big thank you, to all of you who have read, will read and who won’t because no matter what, we are FAMILY, the Romance FAMILY.

Sergeant Samantha O’Hara had no idea that when she was assigned to the 1266th Transportation Company, that she would meet sexy and flirty Chief Warrant Officer Raleigh Fitzgerald. But when their eyes met sparks flew as well as the bullets. It was against Army Regulations they knew that, but it was an undeniable attraction. She wasn’t sure how long she could hold out he had a way of getting under her skin. She would do everything she could not to be another notch on his bedpost but would he let her go that easy.

Raleigh was used to getting what he wanted and right now little Miss Sam was on the top of his list. He had met and bedded a lot of women, but she was like no other. He had to have her and no Army Regulation would get in his way. He had been through hell and back multiple deployments and recovering from a bullet wound to the shoulder. This would be an easy investigation or so he thought; Go to Chicago check out the inventory then leave, EASY. Until it took them from Chicago to Fort Bragg then to New Orleans; with a terror cell in the equation would either of them survive?

Where are you from? Does the area you live in influence you writing?

I am from Macomb, IL but I live in Staunton, IL now.  Most of my influences for my writing come from my Army service

Tell us your latest news!

I signed with Limitless Publishing they are re-releasing my Novel Warranted Pleasures July 25th then on July 11th I am part of an Anthology called Craving Soldiers as well as another called Craving Secrets that releases Aug 22nd and another Craving Christmas that releases Nov 21st.  For 2018 I have another Anthology that releases in Feb 2018 it is Counting Stars Anthology.  I also have another novella coming in Dec 2018 and hoping to get Book 2 Warranted Desires released early 2018

When and why did you begin writing? What inspired you to write your first book?

I started writing at a young age, but I didn’t start really putting in the time to it in 2010.  My first Book Warranted Pleasures came about when I reported to a unit in Chicago that had serious equipment losses and issues with accountability of equipment.  My job in the Army was a Unit Supply Sergeant.

What book(s) / author(s) have influenced your life and writing?

I love Brenda Novak.  Not sure if she influenced me.  I love Jane Austin also.  I would say that growing up watching soap opera had more to do with it.

Tell us about your characters and how they came to be? Have they been in your head for a long time?

Oh this is a great question.  In Warranted Pleasures, my hero Raleigh Fitzgerald is a recovering ranger that had been injured in Afganistan who is assigned to investage the property losses at my heroine Samantha O’hara unit.  He is the epidomy of your southern gentleman and soldier, kind of like a modern Rhett Butler he is tall, tanned, muscluar and way to handsome for his own good.

Samantha is a tall, blonde, smart ass soldier much like a Scarlett O’hara.  Are you getting the similarties?   I have been in love with Gone with the wind for as long as I can remember.  I wanted my characters to have that strength.  Samantha I would say has some characterics of many female soldiers I knew in the Army as well as Raleigh is a combo of many male soldiers I knew.

The characters just came to me and begged to be written.  I wrote the first 3 chapters then it sat from 2010 to 2015 then I finished writtting the remaining 21 chapters in 3 months.

What motivates you to write?

it’s a challenge, and I miss the challenges of serving so with being retired now it really keeps me busy.  I have tons of time to think of ideas, and then I write down an idea, and eventually, it becomes a story.

What is the hardest part of writing?

My grammar, punctuation and staying in tenses.  My editors, I sure get frustrated with me

Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

A lot of my writing is some of my life experinces, and some are stories from other soldiers while others just come from my brain.  Scary I know.  Ha ha.  But mostly my writing helps me deal with my PTSD it’s a coping mechanism for me.  I am able to write down a lot of what I deal with on an everyday basis.

Where do you get your ideas?

My experiences in the army as well as friends I have served with.

What does your family think of your writing?

My kids love it.  My hubby of almost 25 yrs always says “show me the money.” Then I tell him “I don’t write to make money if I did we would be homeless.  Ha ha ha I write because I love telling a story and I love that I can help others to escape into my world.

What is the best advice you would give to inspiring authors?

Don’t quit your day job.  I am lucky because I am retired from the army.

What book are you reading now?

An ARC of The King by Skye Warren

Raleigh opened the door to O’Shea’s Pub and walked in. He scanned the bar—no Sam. He scanned the tables—no Sam. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw her as she emerged from the bathroom. Her long, blonde hair draped over her bare shoulders, and her legs were so long they could almost reach the sky. She was tanned from head to toe, and the dress she had on left nothing to the imagination. It melted into her skin like it was made for her. The heels she wore inched her almost as tall as him. WOW! She is amazing! He could lose himself in those eyes and that smile. He could forget about everything this world offered and just concentrate on making her every wish come true. Because right then, at that very moment, she was everything he had ever wished for and so much more. He wanted so badly to take her in his arms and whisk her away to a remote island and make her his forever. He could feel himself shake as he walked towards her. He knew he had to get it together or he would look like a fool.

Sitting here with Raleigh was almost a dream come true. She could smell his musky scent from across the table; the smell enticed her senses. She could feel her skin get warm and beads of sweat made their way between her breasts. Thoughts crept into her mind of all the heavenly things she would do to him if she got him alone in a room. It had been too long since Sam had felt a man’s touch—a real man’s touch. She wanted to be taken—body, mind, heart, and soul. Her heart ached for the love and tenderness of a man; Raleigh reminded her of the emptiness she had been feeling for quite some time. Could a guy like Raleigh make all her hopes come true? Or for one night, make her forget all her troubles and be a woman again? She didn’t care either way. There were carnal, sexual needs that she wanted to follow.

As she sat so close to the man of her dreams, the man who could fulfill her deepest desires and the fantasies she had yet to share, she had a feeling she could share any one of them with him and he would be more than willing to make them all come true.

In his deep southern twang, he asked, “Have you ordered yet?”

“Just a drink. I thought I would wait to order food once you got here.” Sam’s voice trailed off as she felt the distinct touch of Raleigh’s leg against hers. The heat she felt skyrocketed to pure pleasure. Is that by accident? Or is he playing with my emotions? She moved her leg just inches, testing the hypothesis that his touch was an accidental one. But his leg moved between hers and pressed them apart. Her heart quickened and her breath hitched. Without control, she had allowed his leg in deeper and could feel her wetness envelop her. She had deliberately gone without panties to avoid panty lines; now she worried he would inch ever so close feeling the wetness soak his jeans. The tablecloth had hidden what was going on under the table, so Sam was happy to oblige Raleigh’s advances. For one night only, she would put away her emotions and her inhibitions and just let the chips fall where they may. She already had a few drinks in her before Raleigh arrived. She was now relaxed enough to let herself go and enjoy where this may go. If she ended up in his bed, she would count it as a notch and let it go. She couldn’t fight her feelings anymore. She needed to be taken, and she needed it now.

The table hid Raleigh’s intentions, and he slid one hand on Sam’s leg and up the length of her thigh. The higher he moved up, the warmer it got. He hoped once he reached her spot she would be ready and willing to take his length and the pleasure he had secretly sworn to give her the moment he laid eyes on her. He could feel her legs tighten as he inched closer and felt her breath quicken the closer he got to her folds. I pray she isn’t wearing panties. As he reached within centimeters of her warmth and folds, the waitress arrived.
