Synopsis

Lochlanach has traded the great beast for something far more terrible, a Lashed enemy veiled in beauty, deception, and a vengeance passed down through generations: Rozaria Rocato. And she’s offering the hunter Paxton Seabolt power and acceptance he could never receive in his homeland. Pax must decide how far he’s willing to go under her tutelage, knowing she is the opponent of Princess Aerity Lochson.

In a land where traditionalists dread change, the Lochlan throne must contend with mysterious foes and traitors, while attempting to keep revolt at bay. As dire circumstances strike the royal family, matters of the castle are left in Aerity’s hands. It’s time to put aside her fears and grasp the reign, taking actions that have the potential to save or destroy her people.

One hunt has ended, but the pursuit for love and justice continue. In this sequel to The Great Hunt from New York Times bestselling author Wendy Higgins, political intrigue and romance intensify in another thrilling fantasy. Princess Aerity embraces a quest for identity and passion before making the ultimate sacrifice for her kingdom.

***Gladys, #NerdGirlOfficial Review***

A wonderful and eventful follow up to the 2016 release of The Great Hunt, which was one of my favorite books last year!

The Great Pursuit continues right where The Great Hunt left off and all the characters spring into action. Rosaria Rocato continues to raise an army for the lashed, Lord Alvi (the hunter’s champion and future husband of princess Aeirty) includes himself in court politics, Paxton embeds himself in the enemies camp and Princess Aeirty leaves the kingdom under disguise in order to say one last thing to Paxton. The hunter that stole her heart. There are stories within the story which excites me as a reader, but you don’t find yourself overwhelmed but taken by Wendy Higgin’s wordplay.

She enhances the storyline with each subplot and I don’t know who exactly I am rooting for the most. Just that I am rooting for them all. Well except Rosaria. I am a huge fan of Paxton and an even bigger fan of Princess Vix. Even though they hold 2 different roles in the story their personality shines brightly! The story takes a turn for the worse when the King and Queen are kidnapped.

What happens next is something you must find out! Read on! Do not even think about it. The Great Pursuit is a fantastic fantasy read!! Lovers of the Graceling Series will find the duology enjoyable.

5 Stars and a double tip of my Nerd Girl hat!
