Jasmine Hunter is a rookie agent working for the covert Supernatural Department of Scotland Yard.
Being kidnapped with a co-worker is the last thing she’s expecting from only two months in a job she loves. She is even more unprepared for the sparks that fly between her and one of their captors, especially when her unique senses are screaming he isn’t human.
Eric is a vampire, deep undercover with centuries of secrets. He has no time for distractions, yet he can’t seem to get the feisty female out of his head, nor the hungering desires she evokes within him.
Forced to work together, they must stop the diabolical plans of Marcel Coupe – the French arms dealer responsible for her abduction. As time starts to run out can they save themselves and Paris from disaster? Or will the sizzling attraction between them be their downfall?
This is the debut novel for author Claire Marta, and overall it is a great start! She is able to grab the readers attention and doesn’t let it go. The author introduces the reader to some old favorites, such as werewolves, vampires and mages but she also adds a twist such as vampiria, crime bosses and mobsters. The overall feel of the book is fun, fast and interesting to the reader.
This story centers on Jasmine and Twitch who are kidnapped, they both work for a part of Scotland Yard and are both not used to being in the field. Eric and Raoul are undercover but they can’t help but save Jasmine. The story goes back and forth with sexual tension and the reader wonders if anything will ever develop between Jasmine and Eric….the plot is unique in its own way and makes the reader feel like they are a part of all of the action while zooming around Paris, partying on yachts and just living a taste of the rich and famous.
The reader simultaneously never wants the story to end, but must know what happens to Jasmine, Twitch, Eric and Marcel…it is one of those catch 22 situations. The author keeps the reader on the edge of their seat while they ride this super looping, curving, twisting roller coaster that she has us strapped into…it seems impossible to predict what may happen next!
The reason that this is a 4 star read and not a 5 is there are a few things that bothered me throughout the story. There were more than a few grammatical errors, some spelling errors (not the British spelling of things with the ou, such as favours), but real words that were spelled wrong and just a few instances when the author added a bit too much fluff or filler to the chapters. Overall this was a good read and I will be reading book 2, as I must see what happens to everyone in the story.
Add this to your TBR list and be prepared to one-click book 2 as soon as you finish because there is a bit of a minor cliff hanger to this one…
