***Shelly – #NerdGirlXrayer’s  Review***
Amira is a princess who has been trained from birth to become the ruler of the Nephilim and their island sanctuary. As this story starts she is training to learn to defend herself from Caeden, the captain of the Royal Guard. Amira has a crush on him, one that Caeden thinks is just a phase.

The story starts out as a romance but quickly becomes so much more. As Amira deals with tragedy she has to step into the role of leader sooner than she should. She is forced to create a bond with a monster. From this point on the story is non stop action and angst as Amira, her friends and the Royal Guard fight to defend Nephilim.

What drew me into this story is the characters. We see Amira go from a young lady to a strong leader. Her heart is golden and she will do what she needs to defend and protect here people. The people of the island band together to fight evil. All of the characters play such a pivotal part in the story an each and every one of them will bring out multiple feelings. You will see the evil in some and the good in others. Each one makes a part in bring peace to Nephilim. Ms. Cantrell does a phenomenal job of drawing you into a fantasy world. Her writing creates a place that you can easily imagine.

The ending is not a cliffhanger but does leave an opening for questions that need answered and characters you will hope to see in the future.
