Synopsis

Matthieu Sartonné is a privileged youth in a world about to fall. Nearly finished with his education and yearning for the day when he can finally be with his beloved, he thinks he knows precisely where life will take him. However, like the rest of the world, he was not prepared for what came next: the wars, the plague, and a reckoning with his own blood that makes him question all he knows. His family dead and his home destroyed, he sets out into a larger world that owes him nothing and will never let him stay in one place for long. All he knows anymore is that some power wants him to stay alive; only time will tell if that power is God or simply his own will to survive

***Derek – #NerdGirlDad’s  Review***
This the first novel in what I hope will be a long series. T is unusual in that the author has done such a good job of editing that only a very good observer will spot the one mistake left. The story is both original and good.
Now that I know the world in which it is set expect to enjoy subsequent ones even more than I did this. The characters are all believable (unusual in a first novel of a series) and a reader will soon pick out his/her favourite, identify with them and ‘help’ solve the mystery.
