When ambitious Olivia Parker is offered the prime position of assistant physician for the Las Vegas Sinners hockey team, she’s determined to prove she belongs there. But it’s lonely at the top. Her professional focus has lost her countless personal relationships, and now she’s ready for a fresh start. What she’s not ready for is her gorgeous new patient showing her everything she’s been missing. Could a shot at real love be worth risking her ethical code?
Grayson Gunn happily played his entire career for his hometown team, never having won hockey’s greatest prize. A surprise trade to the Sinners gives him one last chance at the Cup before he hangs up his skates, and nothing will stand in his way, not even the injuries that send him to the team’s pretty new doctor. A little flirtation now that he’s on his way out of the NHL can’t hurt though…right? But when he gets a second chance to keep playing, Grayson is torn between the game he’s lived for and the woman he can’t seem to live without.
As we’ve seen with the previous books, this one sticks with the forbidden love theme; this time its a sports doctor and a smoking hot older hockey player. Olivia is by the book; she believes in separating herself from her patients. This may have worked in her old life, but once Grayson “Big Gunns” Gunn steps into her office, Olivia finds that Vegas has more to offer than just a new job. It has the potential for a new romance if she decides to take the risk. I loved Olivia. She’s sweet and simplistic, yet she has a huge heart for her new hockey patients. She tries to do the right thing, but sometimes what seems wrong, may actually be right.
Grayson Gunn will make your panties go up in smoke. He’s older for a hockey player, which I really liked. I loved that Grayson steps up, not just on the ice with his new team, but with Olivia and the community. I wish he were a real person so I could meet him. That’s how much I loved him. He tries to fight his attraction to Olivia as well, but fate intervenes constantly. Grayson has a lot of hard choices to make in this book and you’ll want to hug him as he struggles with it.
I loved every page of this book. The story flows so well that when I got to the end, I thought it was too soon. That’s the best sign of a well written book. I highly recommend this and every book in the Las Vegas Sinners series. Please see my page on the Nerd Girl site for reviews on books one through four.
