Synopsis

The people of Moorvale put their faith in the legend: The knight Tristan and the wizard Vithric, in an epic battle, had defeated the evil Nethergrim.

That faith is shaken when livestock go missing, only to turn up as piles of bones. But it’s when a group of children disappear that they know for sure: The Nethergrim has returned.

Edmund’s brother is one of the missing, and Edmund knows he must do something to save his life. But what? Though a student of magic, he struggles to cast even the simplest spell.

Still, he and his friends swallow their fear and set out to battle an ancient evil whose powers none of them can imagine.

***Gladys, #NerdGirlOfficial #xoXoTheNerdGirl Review***

*This book was provided by the publisher/author for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Matthew Jobin, and I sincerely enjoyed it.  I am always on the hunt for a middle-grade book that my daughter and her friends would enjoy, and this is an excellent example of a book they should read.

A long long long ago legend told by the town’s people spoke about a knight Tristan and a sage wizard Vithric.  Their friendship began in the midst of a land in turmoil and the noble knight looked out for Vithric, so the wizard did the same. The two went on a journey to vanquish the evil plaguing the land. It was EPIC.

Years and Years later, the townspeople still told the tale and during a celebration, they found that the noble ones will not be in celebration.  Livestock goes missing, and soon the children begin to disappear.  Edmund’s brother is one of them.  Edmund believed in magic and loved to read, which his father strictly forbids.

The friends embark on a journey through the world carefully built and steeped in mystery.  I enjoyed this YA Fantasy as I have enjoyed many in the past few months.  I can’t wait to dive into The Skeleth and am so glad I have it on hand!!!

Five stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat!!
