A Long Way Home is the third book in The Fallout Series by Becky Doughty. Like the others in this series, it can be read as a standalone, but characters from the other books play supporting roles in this tale of a girl who fears she’s wandered too far from home to ever make it back.

On the run, Savannah Clark lives her life as a modern-day bohemian, hiding her identity behind her beaded scarves and swirling skirts. Marek and the Gypsies, a troupe of dancers and musicians, follow the Renaissance and Medieval Faire circuits, never staying in one place for very long. Her disguise, however, doesn’t fool those who know and love her best, nor does it completely hide the evidence of how difficult living in fear can be.

But an unexpected encounter with Jordan Ransome, her first love, tears open old wounds, and tragic news from home brings Savannah face to face with her worst fears. Will she run again, tethered to the lies she’s come to believe about herself and those she left behind, or can she trust her heart enough to embrace the girl she once was as the woman she has become?

Trigger Warning: A Long Way Home touches on some heavy subjects, such as sexual domination and manipulation, date rape, and teen pregnancy.

***Melanie – #NerdGirlVamp’s  Review***
A Long Way Home is listed as the Fallout series book 3 but this can totally be read as a stand alone novel with no reading of the previous books required. I do feel the need to mention that this book could be a trigger for those with a history of abuse. Clean Teen Publishing has a great disclosure system and this is mentioned but just in case anyone goes in blind just reading the review I wanted to mention it.

Where to start with this book. Generally I am not a contemporary romance unless something really jumps out to me. With Becky’s books it is the description. The details just drag you in to the stories and make you feel like you are there. I almost wish I hadn’t given the first 2 books in the series 5 stars, which is totally unfair because they 100% deserved it. I think what I need is a higher than 5 out of 5 ratings for this one! Can you give 6 out of 5 stars? Seriously for me this book was THAT good. By far my favorite of the three and if you don’t read anything else I would suggest grabbing this one.

A subject that is so difficult to talk about was handled so beautifully I just can’t give enough credit to the author for this one. Contemporary romance fans should grab a copy now! V””V
