Synopsis

War has come to Thunder Bay. With magi encroaching upon the vampire stronghold, Luca cel Rau must fulfill his duty to protect the younger vampires who are reliant upon his ancient strength. When he finds a bruised but defiant human woman outside their lair, however, it is more than duty driving him to protect her — and she might very well be a liability and distraction he can’t afford.

***Sara #NerdGirlSara Review***
The first fifty pages in a serial
-type series, I was dying for more. Gravenstein throws you right into the action with a battle between vampires and magi.

The world building is excellent and complex. I really enjoyed what I could glean of the mythos so far. I’ve been burnt out on vampires for awhile but this take seemed really fresh.

My only complaint would be the number of characters introduced at once, I’ll definitely need to reread before the next installment which isn’t and hard since this installment is only 50 pages.
