Gracie Ambrose has only vague memories of her father, who mysteriously disappeared on her sixth birthday. As she prepares to graduate high school and face the loneliness of losing her best friend, Kellan – who is moving across the country to attend college in Connecticut, she decides to go in search of answers about her long lost father.

Gracie’s quest soon leads her to the very town where her best friend, and secret crush has gone… Asylum Hill. There, in the little picturesque town, Gracie finds more than she has bargained for and is drawn into a world that is made of her nightmares.

As Gracie nears her eighteenth birthday, she discovers that her father was not just an average man, and she is not just an average teenage girl. She is a precious commodity and there are some who would stop at nothing to possess her.

Gracie’s feelings for Kellan are soon put to the test when she meets the handsome yet unexplainably familiar, Liam Kingston. With his unique ice-blue eyes he captured her heart, and awakened a fated love that was doomed from the start.

Stepping out of the shadows of obscurity and into a whole new world where her dreams can mean the difference between life and death, Gracie grapples with the revelation of what she is about to become, and the dreadful choice she must make that will consume her heart forever.

***Stephenee – #NerdGirlSteph’s  Review***
This was my first book by author Susan Stielow, but it won’t be the last!! I loved this book and am looking forward to reading book 2 to see what happens next!! The author was able to develop a cast of characters that immediately draws a reaction and feelings from the reader. There are clear cut likes, dislikes and emotions from the reader before we even get to the 3rd chapter of the book. She is also able to weave a story that is unique, fun and exciting. There are so many vampire stories out there but she is able to put a completely new spin on it and make it into a book that can stand out from the vampire craze.

Gracie is a confused teenager who only thinks that she knows what is going on in the world. She has a best friend that she loves named Kellan, who at first the reader loves….until they meet Liam…Gracie doesn’t want to hurt anyone and is confused about her feelings, especially when the people that she loves are almost killed. The reader then doesn’t know if they should root for Gracie and Kellan or Gracie and Liam. What the reader decides is going to be one of those love triangles that leave you hungry for more!

The concept of the story and the plot are fast moving, fun and full of suspense. The reader will be on the edge of their seat wondering what will happen next while all the while hoping that Gracie gets her Happily Ever After. The author does leave the story with a cliffhanger but the next book is available so the reader can’t be too upset about that, we don’t have to wait months and months to see what will happen next! This is one of those books that gives you a book hangover that you have to battle, one of those books that leaves you with your emotions all over the place and one that leaves you thinking about the characters long after you have finished reading the book. Just be warned you will need tissues, water (to wet your dry throat after cursing the author and screaming about the book), a place to reflect over the story and most of all a finger that can one-click the next book!

Add this to your TBR list and be sure to add it to the top! This is a can’t miss, must read, amazing book!! Enjoy and set aside plenty of time as once you start reading, you won’t want to stop!!
