***#NerdGirlJulie’s Review***
November 9 by Colleen Hoover is nothing short of brilliant. This is my first book by this author, but it is not going to be the last. The writing is great, the premise is unique, and the angsty tension is off the charts. Once I started reading, I could not put it down; it is captivating. This NA novel is told from the dual point of view of its main characters, Ben and Fallon. Their story is so incredibly engaging that I was in knots about how they would fare. Would they both keep their promise? Was it really a promise? Would they fall in love? Would they become friends? Would they drift apart and forget about one another until one became famous in the future? As much as I would love to discuss the plot, I cannot without spoiling the entire book. The story is about Ben’s and Fallon’s journey not about their destination, per se. And their journey….it’s one heck of a ride that is filled with wild twists and turns. To appreciate this story in its fullest, avoid spoilers and blurbs; it is best to go into this blind.

Ben and Fallon meet in a rather unique way on November 9th. Before the day is done, they agree to meet once a year, on November 9th, for the next five years. For 364 days of the year, they continue with their individual plans as they would have if they hadn’t met, but on November 9th they have an appointment to meet.

“November 9th or nothing.”

Ben is funny, sweet, sincere and supportive. He appreciates books and poetry; he frequently quotes his mother’s favorite poet. I loved his spontaneity. There is a bit of mystery surrounding Ben.

Fallon is understated, and she is a bit overwhelmed by how her life has turned out. She is beautiful and raw. She is feisty enough to want more. She is the sort of heroine that you desperately root for. Fallon is guileless; she is an open book.

“You’ll never be able to find yourself if you’re lost in someone else.”

The chemistry between these two characters is electric. They are charming and believable together. You can’t help but fall in love with them from the start. They’re flirty and playful. I loved their banter and joking. These characters made me laugh, smirk, and gasp through the entire book. I highlighted two or three quotes in every chapter of this book; there were so many unforgettable moments in Ben’s and Fallon’s story. I’m already looking forward to a re-read.

You’ll fall in love, you’ll be spitting nails, you’ll be oh, so frustrated with this incredible New Adult romance. November 9th will never be just another day on the calendar after you read this book.

On a scale of 1 to 10, November 9 by Colleen Hoover is a 12.
