Your scars, my scars, our scars…
A desperate promise whispered by her lover in the heat of the night. Can it be enough?
Sebastian saw me at my worst and still he gave me his best. When it was his turn to fall, I feared I wouldn’t be strong enough to catch him. The choices he made as a boy threatened everything about the man he’d become. I knew the struggle to keep his love would be the greatest battle my heart’s had to face. Still, I could never have prepared myself for what was coming.
World turned upside down, it was hard enough to live with myself after what I’d done. Already unable to trust, I was trapped in a whirlpool of newly discovered truths. How could I live with his wounds when I was already dying from my own?
You can’t take on my burdens without giving me some of yours in return…
A hopeful plea from his lover’s lips. How can he comply when telling her means destroying everything they’ve worked for?
Danielle was spiraling and it was up to me to reel her in. I could’ve lost it all in a heartbeat, but it would’ve been worth it if it meant she was safe. Calculated to the end, I had an iron clad plan to protect her. I just never imagined it wouldn’t be enough.
The ghosts of my past were no longer trapped in my nightmares. They were real and they walked among us, waging war on all that I held dear. How could we win the battle when we had nothing left to fight for?
Two damaged souls. Too many mistakes. One future in jeopardy…
I saw some amazing growth in this book, and not just with the main characters. Geoff, Dani’s best friend, does a lot of growing on his own. He learns to stand on his own but that he can always have Dani in his life. I love that the two of them are so in sync with each other that when there is discord, they work through it in their way. Fantastic relationship. Dani grew so much. She has a lot to deal with in this part of the story, but she handles it better than I think most people would. Don’t get me wrong, she does have a moment of doubt early on in the book but she overcomes it with Sebastian’s help. Sebastian is the character I think that grows the most. He watches his sister fall in love and as he watches her, he finally gets an understanding of just how deep his feelings for Dani are. He can’t live without her and he has to make things right in order for them to have a future.
And as in the last book, Alana (the character that I personally dislike the most because she is just irritating, annoying and gets on my nerves) makes trouble. A lot of trouble. I do h ave to admit that the moment Dani slapped her across the face is fist pumped the air and my child looked at me like I had lost my mind. Despite the fact that Alana is in my view, one of the villains, she does play a major role in the story and has a purpose. She drops a HUGE HUGE HUGE bombshell at the end of this book that you will not see coming. I promise. I didn’t even see it. My mouth dropped open. I still cannot believe it.
So the bad news is that the book ends on another cliffhanger…but the good news is that this means book four!!! And I cannot wait! I wish I could have it now because I have to know what Sebastian does to Alana and if she will finally get all the karma that’s coming her way!!
