Riley Campbell is no stranger to loss. After losing her father in a car accident at a young age, she decides to forfeit the relationship she has with her mother and move in with an older man at the age of 17. Four years later, after ending the relationship due to being physically abused, she feels the need for a celebratory tattoo; her first of what she expects to be many. Her expectations of the parlor, the artist, and the process are pretty weak as she walks in.
Upon entering, she’s pleasantly surprised.
Covered in tattoos, handsome, mysterious, and muscular, Blake West is not at all what Riley expected to find, but exactly what she feels she needs.
Blake is the mysterious owner of Blurred Lines, a tattoo parlor that not only has provided him with a steady income, but in the past supplied a constant stream of women into his life. Now, however, things for him are much different. Blake is a recovering sex addict, and is focusing on being faithful. Details of his sordid past, however, are sketchy at best.
As he begins the process of tattooing her for the first time, Riley feels an almost addiction to the process, the feeling of being tattooed, the ink on her skin, and ultimately, Blake.
As the tattooing of Riley continues, so does her knowledge of Blake. Life-long secrets unveil themselves, and as they do, she realizes not only how much they are alike, but the truth surrounding her father’s death.
“Everyone has secrets; revealing them is simply a matter of finding out where to dig.”
AUTHORS NOTE: HEA, stand-alone, no cheating, no sex outside the relationship.
But seriously, this book is one of his best and one of my favorite reads of 2015. The plot is so completely unpredictable and the “issues” are so real and so well described that the reader is pulled straight into their lives and feel as if they need a therapist when they are done reading it. Blake is a “sex” addict and Riley has just freed herself from an abusive relationship – they have no business getting together but they do and it works and it is fantastic! Blake continues to work through his issues, including a meddling “friend” and Riley rebuilds her self esteem and herself and when the time is right the connections are forged.
Enter the Selected Sinners – sigh – another one of my favorite series by this author and you almost have a tri-fecta of hotness….the only thing missing is our favorite boxers…maybe in the next book (hint, hint). The author is able to weave a tale so intense and so intricate that the reader continues to be amazed by what happens next. There is no way to predict where the author will take the plot and I have given up trying – the surprise is part of the allure of the books.
Do yourself a favor and get this book and get it soon!! You don’t want to miss out on any of author Scott Hildreth’s books – I haven’t found one that I didn’t enjoy yet! He pulls you in and never lets you go….be warned that once you start reading his books you are hooked and there is nothing that can pull you away until you are finished. Enjoy this one and all of his others – they are amazing!
