An ordinary man.
An ordinary life.
One extraordinary event changes everything.
A sinister connection fills Luke’s life with fear.
He’s hearing voices.
He’s seeing things.
He feels she’s waiting.
After an inexplicable intervention, he heads to The Farthest Islands, an exotic and eerie location.
On his way there, Luke meets Deirdre, a mysterious woman who captivates him profoundly.
Determined and defiant, he decides to go all the way, refusing to see the alarming signs that are scattered all around.
It’s impossible to understand anything, but he can be sure about one thing —
Deirdre is not an ordinary woman.
And his life … He can’t even be sure if it is still his life.
No one can help him now, and the best advice he gets
is a stranger’s warning.
“It’s up to you now. You either find the strength to leave, or stay and find the strength not to leave when all you want will be to get away.”
Convinced he would be willing to accept anything in exchange for Deirdre,
Luke decides to fight for her.
But she is not an ordinary woman.
And sometimes the truth is too horrible to bear.
Luke is an interesting MC for this story, he’s cool, kinda aloof, he’s sure of himself, and also a little unsure. He’s handsome, but he’s also very flawed. Luke had a near death experience and it left him a little bit broken. Not something you’d notice outside, but definitely inside. He brought something back with him, when he came back to life, something scary, and also a bit beautiful in a way, but he has been doing his best to ignore it. But it’s not going to be ignored. He travels to the Farthest Isles to connect with this spirit and the journey that comes after keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book was a fantastic read. It was interesting, well written, and completely unpredictable. B.L managed to work all the aspects of this story into perfect harmonization, and really allow us to feel and see this world she’s creating. I tried to read it slowly, and ended up flying through this book. It’s paced well, and the suspense is at the perfect level to keep you just slightly looking over you shoulder. Luke’s story was interesting, seductive, and very very cleverly written.
I can’t wait to see what’s next for this author, and this series!
