Synopsis

Six gruesome murders in two days, a farm house burned to the floor, and panic on the streets. For Sheriff Ian Raskin, this is just the start of a nightmare ride that will take him to the edge of his own abilities where a monster lies in wait.

With his once quiet town being terrorized by an unseen force, Ian finds help in the strangest of places. Simon Pertwhistle, a pathologist from the city, arrives in town proclaiming the murders to be the work of a lone vampire searching for its queen.

Sceptic until proven otherwise, Ian Raskin finds his world turned upside down and when the fate of his town hangs in the balance, he finds a fighting resolve he thought to have been long gone.

Can the monster be stopped in time, or will he find his queen and the immortality that has long eluded him?

***Melanie – #NerdGirlVamp’s  Review***
This is the first book I have read by new to me author Alex Laybourne but I very much doubt it will be the last.

As everyone knows I am a HUGE vampire fan and they are generally my preferred reading choice BUT that does make a little harsher of a critic I feel as many of the things I have just simply read before. Now this may not be a bad thing – Classics tales done well are always good … but I digress.

This story is a little different from the general scores of vampire literature out there and I LIKED it! These vampires don’t want to love you, they KNOW they are superior and that humans are just a convenient food source and it was GREAT!.

If you are looking for a cute vampire romance then this is not for you, but if you are open to something a little darker, something more reminiscent of when the monsters were supposed to be the things that went bump in the night then I suspect, like me, you will enjoy it.

4 out of 5 stars for me!! V””V
