From Charlaine Harris, the bestselling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale – populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that’s how the locals prefer it…

Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town.

There’s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There’s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there’s new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he’s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own).

Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth…

***Gladys – #NerdGirlOfficial’s  Review***
I am prepared to hear the gasps of shock and astonishment. Midnight Crossroad IS the first novel I have read from the bestselling author Charlaine Harris. Why you ask? I have no clue. I have never even watched True Blood. It’s not that I don’t like the paranormal genre, vampires or urban fantasy. It just didn’t peak my interest at the time, I rebelled and I didn’t have cable. (Even though I do own all her books in hardback ~ I am strange. I do plan to read them all now that the series is finished)

Anyway, I was and AM PLEASENTLY surprised. Midnight Crossroad is centered around a town called Midnight, Texas where there are many boarded up windows, few inhabitants, and one traffic light. Strange. NOPE. There are other things that are strange. AND the newest person who moved in is slightly physic. (Whispers MANFRED)

The world is pretty simple. Small small small town with very few amount of people living in it. The characters are interesting and well developed. Manfriend has an interesting personality and his interaction with Fiji and Bobo are entertaining. AND since I am a cat woman I do like a talking cat!! I would like one for myself. I would like to keep reading this series to see how it progresses and what excitement and mysteries can arise in such a small town.

I give her Charlaine Harris 4 stars! I tip my Nerd Girl hat to her!!
