Title: Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1)
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Published Date: August 7th 2012
Genre: YA Fantasy
***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.
The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass–and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.
It’s almost with a mechanical precision, that I often wonder if she is a machine herself. I often have to shut the book. Stare at the cover, wince and then backtrack a few pages to make sure she didn’t just snag me in her web of words. Hmmmmm… what can I say. Her characters are as vivid as her covers and her writing is impeccable. I dare not compare her like I did when I reviewed A Court of Thornes and Roses. She is uncompareable.
Celaena Sardothien is an assassin who has a secret. One that she will do ANYTHING to hide. Nothing or no one, not even the Crown Prince Dorian or Captain Westfall will waver her resolve. The writing beautiful, the fight scenes epic and the character interactions priceless. Celaena is SNARKY. The first installment to this young adult series is thrilling and captivating. Don’t hesitate. Don’t walk, skip or dance to the bookstore. Run. Or just order it ASAP.
You will not regret it. My only suggestion to you is to buy all the books in the series before diving into the first book, as you will want continue immediately after you finish one book as I did.
Sarah J. Maas, I bow gracefully at your feet and tip my Nerd Girl hat to you yet again!!
