***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Rape. One word changed his life. Mason Tredwell had it all. He was a good looking, well-respected doctor. He had money, power, and friends. He never worried about finding a woman to warm his bed. But that all changed when he was wrongfully accused of rape. And now, after five years in prison and the loss of everything he cared about, he wanted revenge.
Abandoned as a baby and bounced around different foster homes, Kat Gingham never really had a charmed life. But now, things were really falling apart. She had no money, no job, and even her lying, cheating boyfriend was gone too. She allowed herself one night to cry about her situation before she picked herself back up. But when she woke up, she was no longer at home, and she was no longer alone. She was facing Mason, a guy who claimed she ruined his life. And he’s hell-bent on breaking her down, humiliating her, making her feel like he has all these years.
She claimed she had no clue what he was talking about, but he didn’t believe her. The facts don’t lie.
Was Kat lying? Could she convince Mason to let her go? Or was fate playing a role in why they were thrown into this together?
Author Note: I feel I should add a disclaimer that this is NOT A DARK ROMANCE. Although the overall premise can be considered dark, the story falls under the general or contemporary romance categories. If that is not your preference, then this story is probably not for you. Thank you.
Mason is bitter about losing his past life and what he had to endure in prison. When he kidnaps Kat and seeks revenge he is determined to break her. Even though he is rude to Kat and tough on her, she sees the broken man that he really is. Kat is nice to Mason and tries to get to know him. For the first part of the story it is about Kat and Mason actually getting to know each other. Eventually they start to have feelings for each other. Mason finally admits his feelings to Kat, however she is determined to find out who really accused him of rape before she can have a relationship with him. The story really takes a twist when Kat discovers who accused Mason. Throughout the story you will try to figure it out but I admit that I did not figure it out.
Not only are Mason and Kat strong characters but Mason’s best friend Benny was also a strong character. He was actually my favorite character. The storyline has suspense, drama, love, friendship and family. Ms. Renee is great for throwing a curveball at you and she did not disappoint in this book. That is why I love to read her books. If you want an unusual love story that has some great characters then pick up this book.
