***Stephenee – #NerdGirlSteph’s  Review***

Author Clarissa Carlyle is a new to me author and she is one that I am looking forward to reading more from. This story was short & sweet but it packed a punch!  It started off with a bang and didn’t let up from start to finish. Just when the reader thought that Emma’s life was finally on track and heading to a great place, the author pulls the rug out from under us and Emma literally has to choose between her dad and her longtime best friend turned boyfriend.  It was an unfair choice and it had devastating consequences for everyone involved in the story.

The reason I rate this story as a 4 star is because I felt like the author could have made the book a bit longer and not leave such a cliffhanger for the reader. It was one giant lead up to nothing and as a reader, I know that I don’t always want to have to “order” another book (which is also a short story) to see what happens to the characters.  I felt as if the author could have resolved the issues in book one and then made another book about what happens next – the characters were fun, relatable and one in which I would buy the second book just to spend more time with them, instead of almost forcing the reader to get it so that they have answers to their questions.

The author does a great job in a short time with character development, the backstory and the current story and she draws the readers in and makes them want to stay – with that being said I will get the next book because I don’t like to leave things undone, but not all readers will be happy with this option.  Add this to your TBR list, but know that you will need book 2 right away so that you can see what happens next to the characters that you quickly befriend in this book.  This is a good book and one that you should check out!
