I later moved to Blackburn when my mother became ill and needed a carer, I also turned my hand back to writing as it has always been a favourite hobby of mine. My mother died at the beginning of 2014 and she always wanted me to be a writer. I am honouring her dreams for me and have become a full time writer.

INdy Author Talk QA

Q.  Where are you from?  Does the area you live in influence you writing?

I live in Blackburn, Lancashire in the UK but I grew up in Southport in Merseyside and yes the areas and people I live and have grown up in influence my stories totally. The Fallen Ones in the anthology Bloody Sexy and the soon to be released novel The Curse of Mary feature Blackburn.

Q. Tell us your latest news??

Well I gave away in the last answer that I have a new release. My first novel The Curse of Mary has had some great reviews and feedback from beta readers, fans and I am so excited to be releasing it through Vamptasy Publishing.

Q.  When and why did you begin writing?

What inspired you to write your first book? I began story telling as soon as I learned to spell. I would make up stories with my toys before that and it’s something I was born to do.

Q.  What book(s) / author(s) have influenced your life and writing?

Graham Masterton has to be number one, he is amazing, easy to read and I love horror. I am heavily influenced or inspired rather from him more deviant and darker books such as Night Warriors and the Night Plague.

Q.  Tell us about your characters and how they came to be?

Have they been in your head for a long time? My characters are real, when I work with them, I will envision them in my life and thus the do. I see them so clearly and I think and I know this sounds crazy but I am sure all or most authors will understand when I say, they give birth to themselves, they are just there whispering their story into my mind and I type.

Q.  What motivates you to write?

Life, sex and devastation and it is as simple as that.

Q.  What is the hardest part of writing?

Hitting THE END, I hate having to say bye to my characters that have been on a road trip with me across the pages.

Q.  Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

I learned that I am good at it. I learned my writing gives me focus and motivation to succeed and share with the world.

Q. Where do you get your ideas?

The Curse of Mary came out of the worst time of my life and that was the death of my mother, she was my best friend and biggest supporter and she always loved books and wanted me to be a writer. I guess subconsciously the ideas were already there but needed a fracture to spill out. Its dark, chilling and laced with erotica, which is pretty much my life.

Q.  What does your family think of your writing?

They are supportive but don’t read my work, I prefer them not to because of the nature of the subject and my immediate family is only my younger brother so he is definitely not going to read it, and my grandparents would be calling for a priest. My Uncle Stuart is amazing in his support, I couldn’t ask for more.

Q.  What is the best advice you would give to inspiring authors?

Be whoever you want to be, do it out of love for your cause and don’t bend to other peoples ideals. Suck up the bad and the good, we all need balance.

Q.  What book are you reading now?

I am reading Fur, Fangs and Fairies by Mariana Thorn. Great supernatural reading, only just started it so I can’t ruin it for people… but she is a great writer and person so you should all check out her books.
