Alex ‘Hawk’ James has a sordid and violent past, one that, in part, leaves him the single father of a little girl. His only solace is the world he’s made within the Dogs of Fire Motorcycle Club.
Payton Williams has everything under control. Her neat little world is as she has made it and she’s happy with the life she’s leading. But when a chance encounter with a gorgeous biker upends her tidy plans, she finds herself confronting things she’d been happy to gloss over… until now.
Will Hawk and Payton’s different worlds collide in chaos, or will they come together and heal the wounds of the past?
Will a threat from someone out of Hawk’s past destroy the trust he and Payton are building?
Author Piper Davenport just keeps writing one amazing book after another amazing book. I feel like each one is new, different and exciting…I can’t choose just one to be my favorite and I can’t stop thinking about the characters long after I have finished the story. She continues to surprise me with the plots, characters and the way in which she can grab my attention and hold it from start to finish. She doesn’t use a lot of “filler or fluff” in her books and each chapter is something relevant to the story. I love that I know that each page I read by her is going to be worth the read.
I also enjoy that she mixes in some of her characters from her other series and integrates them together so we can catch up with old friends while making new ones. I loved Peyton and Hawk’s story and I feel like we really got to know them throughout the story. I enjoyed the brief glimpse of them from previous books and really loved seeing them get together in this one. It was just the natural flow for the stories to take. I love the dynamic of the characters that Piper brings to life and the way in which she makes the stories focus on a real subject matter that may not be pleasant but she addresses with respect and dignity. She is truly a gifted author.
The plot flows smoothly and quickly throughout this story and we get to see the softer side of some of the Dogs…she really took my perception of motorcycle gangs and changed it in a quick 365 degree turn. Even if you don’t think you will enjoy it because of that aspect, read it! It is nothing like you can envision and it is so worth the read!!! This is book 2 in the series and while you can pick up and figure out where the book is going without reading book 1, you should read book 1 first because it is just as good and it helps you to understand the characters a bit more as you go through book 2. I loved this one and can’t wait for book 3 to come out!!
Make sure you add this to your TBR list – it is a can’t miss!! Enjoy ~ and I know that once you finish you will be ready for more.
