The Trust – A secret organisation comprised of thousands of independent field units fighting an eternal war against demonic forces that prey on the innocent.
One such unit is led by Alexandra Glinyeu, a Voodoo Priestess who operates from a secret base beneath the Durden’s Bay amusement park. Her top operatives are Catherine Jordan and Forrest King, two former vigilantes who have discovered that those they fight could be anyone – friend, lover or family.
When the mysterious Anton Vladek arrives in Durden’s Bay, Alexandra Glinyeu discovers he is interested in more than conducting a review of her past decisions.
Informed about a missing operative, Catherine and another agent, Cutter Smith, travel to the town of Barton Grange where they discover a fatal link to a private girls school.
This’ll give you nightmares! Loved this story!
We are introduced to the Vetala. They are demons that can be summoned to inhabit anyone’s who’s dead. Catherine and Cutter are sent to investigate this school and find a huge population of Vetala. Rachel is one of the students from the school. Rachel and her friends go off in the night to hunt the Vetala when Catherine runs across them. This brings on a full scale attack on the school. From here it turns into a crazy bloodbath. So gruesome and gory but full of action! LOVED #3!
One of the things I disliked with the first two in the series is the amount of characters and how much the story jumps back and forth with everyone. This is not like that. The focus is mainly on the Trust Operatives handling the attack with the students and faculty inside. It also maintains a back story with Catherine’s girlfriend, Daphne, and friend, Forrest. Also bringing along Vladek and Katerina whom you know are up to no good.
A couple of my favorite quotes:
“What are you waiting for? Aren’t you going to do your chivalry thing and insist on going first?” …. “I just got tired of seeing that look you’re always giving me.”
“You’ve got someone in your life, I haven’t. makes more sense for me to go.” She gave him a stern look, glancing back as she started into the tunnel. “That’s why you shouldn’t, you’ve got nothing to lose.”
This holds a story of love with some badass people kicking the crap out of the bad guys. Super fast, fun, keep you on your toes read. The author doesn’t even give you time to hold your breath. 5 stars!
