***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Grief and loss can make a person act out in all the worst kinds of ways. Madalynne Johnson has always been a bit of a handful, but with the loss of her brother, separation of her parents, and her boyfriends unexpected news of joining the army she has gone into a full on tailspin.
Parker Grant experienced loss firsthand when his brother took his own life. Darkness closed in. Madalynne saved him; showed him the light. And even though he isn’t sure what the future holds–he wants Madalynne and this time he won’t give up without a fight.
Author Kira Adams is a new to me author that I am now thoroughly hooked on – this book was amazing! It was written so well that I felt like it was real, almost like a true story that she was telling others about. This book was full of emotion, love, patience and confusion and every bit of it felt real. I found myself laughing, crying and feeling heartbroken right along with Parker and Madalynne. And then there was Lee….who I could also feel sorry for, but he knew all along what was going on…The characters were so well written, so well versed and the reader could feel the emotions that they were going through. The conversations seemed real and there was never a moment when the story didn’t flow.
I was reading this from a perspective of someone who lost a brother very recently and every emotion, thought and action that Madalynne experienced was something that I too have experienced. It is almost as if the author truly felt the loss herself. I think that a reader who has not experienced this type of loss may not understand the depths of the emotions, but they were true and accurate. It was an amazing journey to know that love can and will survive anything, no matter how much it must go through.
The author has done an amazing job with this book and I will be adding her others to my TBR list sooner rather than later! I loved everything about this story, from start to finish and didn’t want to put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen, how the relationships developed and with who – this book reels you in and doesn’t want to let you go! Set aside a good amount of time because once you start, you won’t want to stop! Enjoy ~
