***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Tabitha Michaelson took an oath years ago to lock her heart and throw away the key. She’s spent years keeping up the façade of being happy. Tabitha works, dates and parties with her brother Seth. Burying herself into a world of her own, she never expected to take a chance on a stranger.
Carter Northwood’s life turned upside down the day he turned eighteen. Forced by family he made a decision that changed his life. Years of lies and unhappiness has left him bitter on humanity. Carter doesn’t see a way out of what could hold him back on taking a chance.
An unexpected meeting leads two broken hearts together, but will their lives be destroyed by deceit?
Can two broken hearts take a chance at true love?
Does Carter deserve a chance to find true love?
Or is it too late for a fresh start?
The timeline for Unexpected Chances is basically parallel with that of the One Night Series, but it focuses on different characters. Ms. Willard masterfully wove together the two story lines while fully developing the secondary characters of her One Night Series and turning them into the main attraction.
While the book description makes this book sound like a fairly routine romance story, it is also filled with suspense and subterfuge (no further detail will be supplied as that would spoil the fun). The story was fast paced, and I could not put the book down! The intrigue hooked me, but the relationships between Tabitha and her friends, as well as with Carter, were also fun. Unrequited love, misunderstandings and secrets from the past become hurdles to clear for Tabitha and Carter. Love scenes are tasteful, and the use of strong language was very rare and strategic.
Knowing that this is a series, will prepare readers for the cliff hanger at the end. I was not prepared, and I’m still reeling. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series! A.M. Willard is a new author that you’ll want to keep an eye on.
