***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Copywriter by day, nerd by night, Hailey Holloway is living the post college dream. Her life may not be flashy and exciting but it’s enough for her. After a late night at work, Hailey stumbles upon two dragons brawling in the middle of Philadelphia. In an act of kindness and lapse of sanity, she comforts the dragon who was left behind to die. In doing so she inadvertently invited the soul of Dacea into herself for safe keeping. Hailey just wants to live her life as simply and quietly as possible but with the voice of a disembodied dragon in her head, she has little hope of achieving her goal.
Dacea will do anything to be free of Hailey, a human who is moments from checking herself into a psychiatric ward. He is grateful to be alive, but at what cost to his sanity? The dragon world is in upheaval. Green is at war with Red, and he is of no use to anyone while stuck with Hailey.
The solution to their problem is not without its risks. But just how far will Hailey go to be free of the dragon?
In the world there are regular humans, witches, Gods, Goddesses, and dragons (if not more magical creatures). After an unfortunate occurrence Hailey wants nothing more than the voice in her head to stop and leave her alone. The only problem with that is, she (nor the man who is also a dragon), know how to get him from Hailey’s head back into his own body. Dacea, in his green dragon form, was fighting a long time enemy, another dragon named Silas, when Silas stabbed him to finish him off. Before he died he turned back into his human form. Hailey accidently stumbled into the fight on her way to work and after seeing if Dacea was all right, his soul/spirit traveled into Hailey to rest and recuperate. Dacea is making Hailey go crazy with his brooding and wanting to find a way to his body, and Hailey is making Dacea crazy by being sarcastic, annoying, having no magical qualities like him, and calling him annoying nicknames like Dak. After praying to any God or Goddess who will listen, Hailey finally gets a visit from Goddess Thalia who has a special book that has more information about the different kinds of dragons, and other mythological creatures out there. After reading and learning more, and learning that they need a witch to do a separation spell, Dacea says he knows of a witch, named Darby, that might be able to separate them and they all go to find her. However after spending time together and getting to know each other more, Dacea figures out that Hailey is his mate. They both seem to be a little more hesitant to want to go through with the process after all because they don’t know what it will mean for them in the end or if the separation will occur without flaw.
I will say that reading the summary in the beginning I was a little confused as to how Hailey could come across actual dragons fighting, and how one got into her head, but it is actually very easy to understand. I completely love this story and all the characters in it. They are all so likeable and genuine. This book can be read as a standalone but I’m so happy that there is another book out that continues the story. I will most definitely be reading it.
