Secrets will be revealed…hearts will be broken…lives will be lost. Southern Secrets, Book II in the Southern Series, continues the love story between Navy SEAL Banton Gastaneau and Chandler Collins. As Chandler and Banton get married and begin their life together, evil soon follows. Fighting an ongoing battle with the Orco terrorists, Banton, John and their secret team of Navy SEALs battle to eradicate the Orcos and protect Chandler.
As Chandler’s pregnancy advances, the Orcos step up their attacks. A murder during a Mardi gras celebration breaches the illusion of the Aldon and SEALs protection, and a secret threatens to tear Chandler and Banton apart. When the terrifying reason the leader of the Orcos is infatuated with Chandler, the babies, and Constance comes to light, the urgency to defeat the Orcos will put the SEALs to the ultimate test.
Author Shelley Stringer is new to the book writing industry, with this being her second book, but if you were to read her books without knowing this, you would at once assume that she is a seasoned writer that has been doing it forever! Her stories are fresh, her writing is on point and her characters are the best friends that you have been looking for your entire life.
This book just draws you into it right from the start and you cannot, nor do you want to let it go! It picks up right where book one left off and it is a seamless transition. The characters continue with their lives and she introduces a few more lovable characters into the mix, as well. My favorites remain Banton, Ev and Chandler, but it was hard not to fall for some of the others as well. The author’s writing is refreshing, fun, interesting and bold all at once. The plot flows with no problems, there is never any “filler” as you read and at times you can’t seem to get enough of the story, characters or plot. The author describes the city, the scenery and the characters with so much detail that you can close your eyes and have a clear picture of everything that is going on throughout the story. The books are a mixture of Navy Seals, ghosts and vampires and however strange that sounds, it works, and it works well! I almost catch myself wondering if the ghosts and vampires really do exist because the author makes them seem that real and plausible.
I cannot wait to read the 3rd book, Southern Spirits, and am sad to know that there will only be 3 books in the series! This is one of those books that you get lost in and don’t want to end, EVER!!!
