***THIS BOOK WAS NOT GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW – READ AT REVIEWERS PLEASURE***
The first installment of Ana Meadows’ thrilling fantasy erotic romance series, The Stolen Valkyrie. This enthralling tale follows a feisty and independent village chieftess, caught between the willful demands of two strong men; her husband, determined to preserve his village at any costs; the leader of a rival village, strong and silent, resolved to end the clans’ warring once and for all, and a whole host of sumptuous sex scenes!
Fiery Chieftess Asta fears little but the Gods; as the wife to the chief of the clan, Johan, her life seems straightforward. So when she wakes up in a dark, unfamiliar place – her hands and feet bound – her way of life, and everything she holds dear, is taken away from her! Her kidnapper is soon revealed to be the fearsome and brutish Thorlak, the chief of a rivaling clan, and he demands she become his personal attendant!
Hmmmmmmmmmm… I really really really REALLY wanted to love this book. Heck I wanted to love this book! I enjoyed Ana Meadows contemporary novel Closed Quarters (I gave it a 4), so I wanted to check out her Fantasy Erotic Romance Novelette. I read The Stolen Valkyrie, Broken Bonds and Ummmmmmm…. I was confused. I didn’t get the mythology, I didn’t get the… Sigh… It’s missing something. I understood that Asta wanted to be this strong women and wife of the chief of the clan, AND that she wanted to forge her own identitiy but back then it was a lot harder to be that woman. CRAP it’s a lot harder to be that woman in some Filipino families now (um mine) BUT her attitude towards her husband (the cheif) is strange, she obviously loves him. She feels for him but why does she deny him, then when she is captured her feelings are all over the place. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe I am still confused. Maybe I should re-read it and then read book 2. I am still in disbelief as Closed Quarters was excently written and I gave it a 4, maybe I should move on to book 2 and see if it progresses at a better pace. REDEMPTION IS ON THE HORIZON…
Ana I am all for second chances, shrugs I will give book 2 a try, but for now I will give it a 2.5 rounded down to a 2 because I am just so confused.
