***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Jack Donovan went through hell and back to save Isabelle once. Now she’s back in his life, hunted by an assassin so elusive some claim he’s only an urban legend. More than just a gun for hire, the killer is driven by a pathological need to take down his targets and, when Isabelle escapes the bullet meant for her, Jack knows he’ll strike again. The only way to keep her alive is to keep her close, and Jack’s about to learn what hell really is.
In the year since Jack rescued her from a guerrilla compound and then walked away, Isabelle Arceneau has begun to put her life back on track. Now somebody wants her dead and Jack is once again her only hope for survival. As the Devlin Group races to uncover the killer’s identity and Jack and Isabelle go on the run in a desperate bid to keep her alive, she knows she can trust him with her life, but never again with her heart.
This is book #4 in the Devlin Group Series but it can be read as a standalone. I have not read any of the other books and I did not have a problem picking up with this one.
One year ago Jack was involved in rescuing Isabelle from a guerrilla compound but then he left her at the airport told her to get on with her life and left. Isabelle has never forgotten the brave man who has rescued her and when some tries to kill her again Jack is her only hope at survival. The Devlin Group sets out to hunt down the person trying to kill her.
The action started on page one with the assassin shooting and Isabella. When he finds their hideout they must take off on the run. But while on the run Jack can’t deny the feelings he has always had for Isabelle and thing start to heat up. Even though Isabella is scared for her and Jack she is a strong women who faces her fear and fights her attacker right along with Jack. Jack is her protector who realizes his feeling for Isabella.
This book is fast paced, tense, and suspenseful with a side of steamy thrown in. The characters are well developed and strong. The whole Devlin group is a force to be reckoned with. They work well together. The story line flows smoothly and keeps you intrigued wondering what will happen next. I will definitely be looking into the other Devlin Group book by Shannon Stacey.
