***Misty – #NerdGirlShadow’s Review***
Overall, I thought this book was lots of fun! The main character, Jen, is looking forward to spending summer abroad on a cruise ship. She is excited and looking forward to the impact it will have on her life. One night, while stepping out for some fresh air, she sees a fellow shipmate get pushed over the edge. The group of rowdy students persuades her that she is wrong, and she tries to convince herself that it was all in her imagination.
She is let in on the secret shortly after, discovering that everyone aboard is magical in their own way. Not only that, but there are many more secrets to be revealed as the trips progresses, including something evil lurking around the ship.
I did find some of the conversation a bit tedious, but other than that, it was a blast. Jen’s world view opens as she discovers more and more magic and magical creatures. Jen can be a bit naïve, but that is easily overshadowed by some good fight scenes and wondrous fantasy.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy and, keep in mind, its part of a series!
