***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
When an accident claims her mother’s life, Keahilani Alana must take charge of her family or risk losing what little they have. With an underage brother to care for and no education, she has few options. The door to a heavenly hellish opportunity opens when she stumbles upon a valuable secret her mother left behind on the slopes of an extinct volcano—a legacy that tempts the family with riches beyond their wildest dreams. But the secret is much bigger and more sinister than they realize. As reality unravels and exposes eerie truths about the siblings that should have remained deep under the mountain, Keahilani must either resist the call of her blood or risk being consumed by its darkness.
Blake Murphy is an assassin working to infiltrate a new Hawaiian cartel. His investigation reveals that Keahilani, the sexy surfing instructor he pegged as an informant, is much closer to the drug ring than he thought. Passion ignites between them in the bedroom, but their ironclad ties to opposing interests pit them against each other everywhere else.
When tensions reach the breaking point and her family is threatened, the only cure for Keahilani’s hot-blooded fury is a loaded clip with a body bag chaser.
* HOT-BLOODED is a suspense/thriller that contains drug use and graphic sex, language, and violence. The story is intended to entertain, not to condone or glorify illegal or immoral activities. This book is unsuitable for sensitive readers and those under the age of 18.
**Author Warning – Hot-Blooded does NOT end with a happily ever after. It contains drug use and graphic sex, language, and violence. The story is intended to entertain, not to condone or glorify illegal or immoral activities. This book is unsuitable for sensitive readers and those under the age of 18.**
Hot-Blooded is just that, HOT-BLOODED! If you want a mushy, happily ever after, I suggest you turn around now. This is not for the faint of heart. Absolute must read! The author knows exactly how to start the story and keeps you hanging on until the end.
We have a strong female lead, Keahilani Alana. Right from jump we are thrown into chaos with the sudden death of her mother. She and her two brothers step up to be sure their youngest brother has a good life. With this daunting task they end up in the drug game. We also meet Scott and Blake. Scott runs the major drug ring and Blake is an assassin that works with Scott. Blake and Scott have been through many personal things together. We learn very early that “Ohana is everything”. Scott sends Blake to find and take over the Alana’s family business. Keahilani and Blake meet by mistake without realizing they are against each other. There are a couple hot “dates” spent with each other, pushing each other’s limits before they figure each other out. With this new knowledge they find many new things out about their own ohana. Sex, drugs, murders….
“You can’t change your past no matter how hard you try, so live with it. Embrace it. Respect how it molded you into the person you are now, even if the path you treaded to get here was a little bumpy.”
“Too many convenient coincidences, yet not enough connections to make sense of them.”
“A professional con artist and hitman, he made a living out of weaving stories and leaving behind bodies as epilogues.”
“Ohana wasn’t always about blood. Sometimes family included the misfits who didn’t belong anywhere else but with you because you were just as f***ed up as they were. Sometimes they were the ones who reflected pieces of yourself.”
I cannot say much more about the details of the story without giving it all away. Just when you think you have it all figured out…there’s another twisted revelation that comes to light. They are all so intertwined with each other and have no clue. Things are not always as they seem.
Nail biting, heart pumping, WTF’s until the end. Hot-Blooded is HOT!
