With each passing day Jessica’s consciousness grew stronger. For twenty years she was content to remain as she was—trapped inside another. The life she led came to an abrupt end the moment she laid eyes on Raphael. At first she suspected they were destined to be together–his gentle touch confirmed it. Although he didn’t know it, he ignited waves of a fiery passion that burned deep into her soul. It became brighter every day, giving her the strength she needed. Somehow she would find a way to free herself from her grandmother’s powerful magic.
Since her birth she learned vicariously from observing others of her kind and until now she was satisfied with the life she led. She had everything one would need to live a meaningful life without the stress the human world inflicts on its inhabitants. With each passing day her obsession to be more than she was, intensified. Jessica knew she was gifted with her race’s abilities to communicate with others but until now she had never used them. They say practice makes perfect and she was at a point now where she could make her presence known—at least to him.

***Amanda – #NerdGirlWitch’s  Review***
Amazing read! V.S. Nelson is such an amazing author! Raphael and Jessica/Nowaki were favourites of mine from the first book and I have to say this one was even better the the first! We got to meet even more amazing people in this one and not only did it cover Raphael and Jessica/Nowaki romance but several others as well.

I really love the Selkie ties in the story as it brings such an incredible twist to the story. We also meet some new characters in this one with some new powers which I can’t wait to learn more about in the next book! V.S. Nelson brings all of it together in such a way as to keep you thoroughly entertained and highly intrigued, wanting more and more with each turn of the page.

not to much from the bad guys side in this one but they are definitely there in the background plotting and scheming, there are fights here and there throughout the book but nothing major. What I found most intriguing was the changing of sides and the lies told by the other side to keep the soldiers in line. I found this most creative and thought V.S. Nelson did a wonderful job with this part of the story.

My new favourites from this would have to be Tshering Snow and Jasmine. I love both of there stories and I can’t wait to see what more comes out of their tales.
