Synopsis

Cara Devon has always suffered curiosity and impetuousness, but tangling with a serial killer might cure that. Permanently.

London, 1861. Impoverished noble Cara has a simple mission after the strange death of her father – sell off his damned collection of priceless artifacts. Her plan goes awry when aristocratic beauties start dying of broken hearts, an eight inch long brass key hammered through their chests. A killer hunts amongst the nobility, searching for a regal beauty and an ancient Egyptian relic rumored to hold the key to immortality.

Her Majesty’s Enforcers are in pursuit of the murderer and they see a connection between the gruesome deaths and Cara. So does she, somewhere in London her father hid Nefertiti’s Heart, a fist sized diamond with strange mechanical workings. Adding further complication to her life, notorious crime lord, Viscount Nathaniel Lyons is relentless in his desire to lay his hands on Cara and the priceless artifact. If only she could figure out his motive.

Self-preservation fuels Cara’s search for the gem. In a society where everyone wears a mask to hide their true intent, she needs to figure out who to trust, before she makes a fatal mistake.

***Amanda – #NerdGirlWitch’s  Review***
LOVED! this book! A.W. Exley rocks! and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2! Nefertiti’s Heart was full of amazing adventure, excitement and steampunk crazy machines and inventions! I really couldn’t get enough of this book and was sad to find myself at the end.

The characters were amazing I came to like Cara quite a bit, I was on the fence about the ruffian she takes up with Nate though as you never know if he is on the up an up or not or if he could be the killer as he hides his emotions so well. The inspector drives me crazy on several occasions and I wish that Cara had taken her pistols to him time and time again when he accuses her of the murders.

I liked all the Egyptian legends and lore in the story about the heart. A.W. Exley really knows how to bring his audience to the edge of their seats and keep them there. this book was amazing with all of it thrills and excitement. It also had its share of down spots as Cara’s story is a sad and heartbreaking tale and makes the justice that much more sweet in the end.

if your in for a wild steampunk adventure with some mystery and devilish deeds mixed in this is a book for you! A.W. Exley is a brilliant writer who will keep you on your toes and keep you wanting more!
