“Chance made me a Changeling, but what I become next is my choice.”

All college Freshman Cassie Marshall has ever wanted was to be brave enough to find her own place in the world without her friends or parents choosing for her. When she wakes up on her nineteenth birthday in a parallel world she feels she may have finally glimpsed her true purpose. She learns that she is a Changeling with the ability to pass through the Dreaming and into the Otherworld. Now she has one year to decide whether to forsake her destiny and remain a mortal or to sever her ties to become an immortal Fae, standing guard over the dreams of sleeping mortals.
When other changelings go missing, whispers of a dark and shadowy threat begin to spread through the Fae courts. There is an Erlking, an elf twisted by thousands of years trapped in the mortal world, hunting down the changelings where the Fae can’t protect them and draining the magic from their souls. Cassie is thrown into a race against time to decide what she wants most before it finds her and devours her soul and takes away her choices for good.

***Katie – #NerdGirlKtLBLy Review***
I love stories about fairies so I was so excited for this one. A girl Cassandra, “Cassie” just turned 19 and met a cute guy named Dom while she was at work at the university’s bookstore where she goes to school. Her friends Becca and Miguel take her out to a club for her birthday to celebrate. At the club she runs into Dom again and they really start to hit it off he tells her he’d like to see her again. Later on that night when she goes to sleep she finds herself on a beach with a guy named Aleksander who tells her that he is her “Caomhnior” or mentor and that Cassie is a “Siofra” or part fae/fairy. He tells her the place is “The Otherworld” where the fae can watch over people through their dreams and can help them if they have a nightmare. He also tells her that every night once she’s asleep she will go back to The Otherworld and stay there until she wakes up again. She doesn’t believe him but he tells her that no matter if she believes it or not she has to make a decision. By the time her 20th birthday comes she can either choose to stay in the mortal world and never come back to The Otherworld and eventually never remember her time there, or she can stay there and become a full fledge fae and watch over people through their dreams. However if she stays she can never be able to go back to the mortal world again. At first Cassie doesn’t think she wants to stay because of her family and friends but as time goes on and she visits The Otherworld more and more her feelings for Aleksander become deeper. Now she has to decide where she really truly belongs, in the moral world with her family, friends, and Dom, or in The Otherworld with Aleksander who she can’t imagine leaving?
The story was so good, and the characters were so memorable and sweet. In the middle there is a threat that arises that makes Cassie’s decision even more difficult and unfortunately I did figure out what was causing the threat pretty early but other than that it was great.
