Title: Captured Heart
Series: Garrett’s Point
Author: Savanna Grey
Release Date: 4/12/14
Genre: Romance, Contemporary
Emma Heart is the sweet, loyal hometown girl that everybody loves. Born and raised in Garrett’s Point, there isn’t anywhere else she would rather be. Even after college, she came back to her small town to teach Kindergarten. Always the eternal optimist, all is right with the world until it all comes crashing down around her.
Tragedy strikes rocking her strong foundation of faith and has her coming to the aide of her best friend’s seven-year-old daughter.
On the fast track
Jack Denton is on the fast track to partner in his Richmond, VA law firm. Working non-stop, he has no time for anything else but case files.
Relationships are not a part of his vocabulary. He has acquaintances that he occasionally wines and dines with the mutual understanding the end result is meant for nothing more than mere shared pleasure between two consenting adults.
His orderly, fast-paced life comes to an abrupt halt at the untimely death of his sister and her husband, leaving him as the guardian of his seven-year-old niece, Olivia.
At a crossroad
Intending to retrieve his niece, list his sister’s house and hire a nanny – all in a week’s time – Jack finds the tasks much more daunting than he imagined. His own grief is nothing compared to that of his niece, and with no experience on how to handle either, Jack takes the hand extended by Emma to help Olivia adjust and prepare for the move to Richmond.
Garrett’s Point begins to pull Jack in as the citizens come together to support their own in a time of need. Jack doesn’t even know who his neighbors are back in Richmond. Apparently in Garrett’s Point, everybody knows your name.
With assistance from the lovely kindergarten teacher, Jack learns to open his heart and let Olivia in. The problem is Emma has found a place in his heart as well. More and more Jack is finding the thought of leaving Emma not so pleasant, but he has a career plan he cannot put on hold for much longer, or he risks losing everything he has worked so hard for.
As time runs out, will Jack choose the path up the corporate ladder, or will he listen to his captured heart and choose love? Emma knows he will never be happy in a small town and sacrifices her own feelings for the happiness of his.
Jack will have his work cut out for him if he intends to capture Heart.
Stephenee – Nerd Girl Steph’s ARC Review
***THIS ARC BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
In the beginning of the story we are introduced to a group of best friends about to turn thirty all within the same year. They are Emma, Sydney, Kathryn, and Melanie who have been friends for as long as they can remember – even though they are all different and all have very different personalities. They have a standing Thursday night breakfast, dinner date, so that they can all keep up to date on each other’s lives and to plan a big birthday bash!
The characters are fun, funny and so easily relatable. I wish that I had a group of friends like this. I enjoyed getting to know each character and their personalities. I could feel the love that they felt for each other pouring out of the book. They really made the story! The storyline flowed perfectly throughout the book and the details about the town made it feel as if it could be right there with them at the diner and spending time on the lake. I love how the author was able to draw us in with the details she provides. It was such a vivid picture.
I’m pretty excited that this is a new series because I CANNOT wait to read more, I need to know how the rest of the girl’s lives continue on, especially with the hints from the author about each one’s upcoming adventures! I am already making the stories up in my mind and can’t wait to see if I am anywhere near the author’s. I give this one a solid 5 stars and recommend this, as well as Savanna’s other books, to anyone who wants a wholesome classic romance story. She writes a really enjoyable story and a story that makes the reader feel good when they are finished reading. While there is some sex, it’s not overly graphic or erotic and it brings back some romance that books seem to missing lately. To me, it’s the perfect book for a weekend read! Add it to your TBR list and you will be left satisfied and happy and eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.

Grief knits two hearts in closer bonds than happiness ever can; And common sufferings are far stronger links than common joys. – Alphonse de Lamartine
Note from the author:
I look forward to sharing the citizens of Garrett’s Point with you. As the town and the stories blended, I grew to love each and every one of them for different reasons. Small town communities hold a special place in my heart. The sense of community and support still thrives there and is not lost in a world that is so very fast-paced.
The week I was completing edits for Captured Heart, I received a phone call informing me my 27-year-old sister had been killed by a drunk driver in an automobile accident, leaving behind three small children. This news turned me upside down for days inside and not for reasons you would imagine.
We were not close, you see, and now never would be. This brought me sadness for the person I would never really get to know, but the stranger thing was that this story could have been hers. When you read it, you will see what I mean. It took on a different meaning than just sharing Garrett’s Point with you.
So, I dedicate this story to my sister, Tessa Butler – a wife, a mother, a sister, and a daughter whom will be missed.
Much love to my readers and bloggers and special thanks to Chrissy Fletcher of Reading Past My Bedtime Book Blog for her always present assistance and support.
“Shhh, Emma. What a selfish bastard I’ve been, huh? You’ve shouldered all of this responsibility primarily on your own while I’ve been a bystander. I’m so sorry. I didn’t intentionally let that happen. It just did, but I didn’t do anything to step in. It was easier to let you handle it.” He placed his hand under her chin and tilted her face upward so she had to look him in the eye.
“You may be used to people doing what you tell them to do, Jack, but I’m not one of them. When you want to treat me with respect and have an adult conversation about some very serious decisions, then we’ll talk, but not right now. Right now, I don’t wish to speak to you.”
Her breath caught. “Yes. We did. Olivia tried on fifty dresses at the shop. She…” Whatever she was going to say was lost as Jack took her lips with his, slowly pulling on her lower lip and tasting her inner sweetness.
“I missed you.” He whispered against her lips.
~Meet the Author~
Wife and mother of three daughters and one son, life is never dull. I fell in love with the written word as a young girl. My enchantment with the act of falling in love was cemented after reading Pride and Prejudice in the 10th grade.
I love being able to crawl inside a book as if I am a bystander watching it all unfold live. Now that’s a good book!
My desire is to share my fictional friends with you so that they become your friends too! When you read my books, if you don’t end it by saying “Best Imaginary Friends EVER!” then I haven’t done what I set out to do.
