Twelve years after her mother’s murder, Shannon Bradford fears she may have helped convict an innocent man. Even worse, her prominent family may have had something to do with it. Desperate for answers, she seeks help from the one person least likely to give it. Her best friend and childhood crush, Trace Dawson.

The man she sent to prison.

Serving hard time for murder has left Trace angry and bitter. As far as he’s concerned, digging into the past won’t replace the years he’s lost or erase the hell he’s lived. Now that he’s free, Shannon Bradford tops his list of bad memories.

But he never counted on falling in love.

WITHIN TEMPTATION is a contemporary/romantic suspense/mystery hybrid. Set in a sleepy little town during the dead of winter, this award-winning romance novel is a tale of one woman’s quest for truth and a man’s struggle to forgive.

***Contains Graphic Sex, Strong Language and Adult Situations. Not for young readers***

This is a very well written contemporary romance / suspense book with a couple of twists that I didn’t see coming. Although it is obvious early on who the main love interests are going to be, (as with most CR books) it is certainly a different road that you travel down to get there.

The author does a really good job of taking what I perceived to an impossible situation for this couple to overcome realistically, and make the outcome believable. Definitely not an easy task.

The mixing points of view actually work really well to build the story which is definitely not an easy task to accomplish and I would never have pegged this as a debut novel had I not known. A fantastic blend of steamy and suspense.

For me personally it was a just little long for this sort of story but I can guarantee almost every CR fan out there will love how it all plays out.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, as I was thinking about it through the characters eyes. I couldn’t imagine being able to forgive someone who sent me to prison for a murder that I didn’t commit, let alone fall back in love with them. I was hooked from the first page of the book to the last page of the book and even then I wanted more.

I have read many veteran authors who haven’t come close to the writing quality, character development and plot-building in this author’s debut novel. I desperately needed to know what was going to happen to the family, how the relationship would continue and what the next step was for them! I felt like I was a part of the family and felt the pain that both Trace and Shannon went through as they each realized that what they saw may not have been what really happened and the feelings that were never able to be expressed by either of them throughout the beginning of the story. I could relate to the characters on a personal level and felt like I was right there with them in the story.

The book was well written, had some unpredictable plot twists and was able to evoke the emotions and sympathy of the readers. The twists, turns and storyline went in directions that the reader couldn’t imagine and that made the book even better, there are not too many books that leave a reader unable to predict what is going to happen next, I truly appreciate a book that can do this for me. Pick this one up soon, as I am sure it won’t disappoint or leave you scratching your head over what was going on. Enjoy this read, as I know that I did.

This was a well-paced suspense novel with a little angsty romance thrown in. It is well written and keeps you turning the pages. Just enough information is doled out to keep the reader on the edge of her seat surmising and rethinking “whodunnit”. I love a mystery that actually surprises me at the end without leaving me thinking that there was too much of a leap and too few clues to lead to that conclusion.

Do you love small town drama? Do you love a good mystery? Do you love a good romance with a HEA? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this book is for you!
