   Synopsis

I used to think that my life was boring. I resigned myself to the rut I was stuck in. Then my entire existence was turned upside down.

In the last six months, I’ve learned things that would get me committed to an asylum if I repeated them. First, I was kidnapped by vampires. Yes, vampires. Sounds crazy, right? My best friend, Donna, became one of the fanged after that little adventure and hooked up with a hot, Scottish vampire named Conner. They’re even planning a wedding.

Secondly, I learned not all vampires are evil. In fact, some of them are downright sexy.

Alexander Dimitriades has it all. He’s tall, dark, and handsome and manages to give me tingles in all the right place and also make me laugh. Unfortunately, to be with him, I would have to give up my humanity and I like being human. Then, there’s the fact that the whole drinking blood thing gives me the heebie jeebies.

To make matters worse, there are plans in motion to change the place vampires hold in the human world. And I’m caught in the middle, between the vampire I’m falling in love with and a group that wants to create a vampire dictatorship, with humans as slaves.

Now, all I want is my calm, normal life back. As my friend, Ricki, likes to say, “Be careful what you wish for because it might come and bite you on the ass.” I hate it when she’s right.

***Contains Graphic Sex, Strong Language and Adult Situations. Not for young readers***

In CC Woods’ second book in her Bitten Series, she continues the story from her first book, Bite Me. The first book gives us the story of Conner and Donna and the struggle they go through to be together. If you’ve read the first book, you know that Conner had no choice but to turn Donna in order to save her. CC Wood also introduces you to two characters, Alexander (Lex) and Ivie, who become the main characters in this second book.

Ivie is one of Donna’s best friends and because of the vampire attack she faced in the first book, she’s scared and staying with Donna and Conner until she’s ready to be on her own. She’s struggling hard to not judge the other vampires that are in the book due to the one who kidnapped her and put her through hell. Even though she does start to trust a few of the others, there is one vampire in particular that Ivie can’t seem to trust, or forget about: Alexander or Lex for short. There’s something about him that she can’t quite explain and the feelings that he makes her feel confuse her. On the one hand, she’s extremely attracted to him and on the other, she’s terrified that as a human, she’s not going to be enough for him. Ivie struggles to fight the attraction and stay away, but deep down she knows that he’ll never give her up.

For those who met Conner in the first book and thought the Scottish vampire was hot, you need to meet Lex. He’s a Greek vampire that’s just as hot, but what makes him even hotter and sexier, is that this vampire is also into BDSM. He’s even got a dungeon that would rival Christian Grey’s. Lex oozes dominance and sex, and that’s what scares Ivie because she craves it but won’t admit it. Lex knows that minute he sees Ivie (which if you remember from book one, is at the end of the book), that she is the one for him. His heavy handed approach scares her, but he equally confuses her when he kisses her and leaves for weeks at a time without a call or text.

As with the first book there’s more than just romance going on here. There’s another plot twist that helps keep the suspense alive. This time, there’s not just one rogue vampire, but an entire group that wants Conner and Lex out of the picture so they can control not just the vampires but humans as well. CC Wood also adds one more surprise in the book and the only clue I’ll give you is that another one of Donnas’ friends is not what they seem.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would read it over and over again because it kept me captivated and intrigued. The characters grew and developed through the book at a nice pace. Nothing about the relationship between Lex and Ivie was rushed. When the book ends, it again leaves the reader with the conclusion of Lex and Ivie’s story but also leaves another one open. I truly hope that there is another book or two in this series because the story is wonderful.
