   Synopsis

I had the perfect life; an awesome job in advertising, a gorgeous high rise apartment, and a flirtation with the guy down the hall. Then it all came crashing down. Two months later I was a cocktail waitress living in a tiny one bedroom apartment. I had also developed a serious ‘men suck’ attitude.

That all changed the night I met the beautiful and enigmatic Conner Savage. But there was just one little problem…he said he was a vampire. Figures a man that hot would be batshit crazy. Or so I thought. It didn’t take me long to realize that Conner wasn’t a nut job and that I was addicted to him. With every moment we spent together he drew me deeper into his world and the supernatural culture in which he lived.

Now I had a choice: the vampire I craved or a normal life. Couldn’t be easier, right?

Move over Twilight fans! A new adult paranormal romance staring vampires is here and it’s going to make you rethink all you’ve read about them before. In CC Woods’ book Bite Me, the first book in her Bitten series, you are introduced to Donna and Scottish vampire hottie Conner. And ladies, if you love a Scottish accent then you will love Conner.

The book takes place in the US but Conner sounds like he just got off the boat from Scotland and he fits the build of tall, dark and handsome to a T. Donna is a former advertising agent who loses her job and finds herself working as a bartender at the bar Conner frequents. They meet one night when Donna is attacked outside the bar. Even though Donna feels like Conner is a lunatic, she agrees to let him take her out to dinner. The relationship that builds between them is quick and passionate, yet CC Wood makes it a believable romance. Conner is sure that Donna is who he wants to spend his eternity with while Donna needs a little time to figure out just what she’s getting into.

While the book mainly focuses on the relationship between Conner and Donna, CC Wood also throws in a nice plot twist that adds some danger and intrigue to the book. There’s a female vampire who wants Conner and she won’t let Donna stand in her way. She’ll stop at nothing to get Conner, but will she ultimately get the hunky vampire? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

Let’s talk about Conner’s character for a minute. Even though he’s an ageless vampire, he does go through changes in the book. He’s used to being closed off and unemotional, until he meets Donna. After meeting her, he starts to see that just because he’s immortal doesn’t mean that he can’t let someone into his life and enjoy his afterlife. CC Wood did an amazing job with Conner and I love him. He can be that fierce protector but he can also be gentle and loving. He stops at nothing to protect his woman.

So what about Donna? She also goes through a lot of changes. Donnas’ used to being independent and providing for herself, so when her life is in danger she has a hard time accepting some of Conner’s conditions. The internal conflict that she has basically centers around her need to keep some of her independence while trying to accept that Conner has a need and desire to take care of her. Donna also comes alive with Conner sexually; she embraces that while she’s not a Barbie doll size, she’s the one Conner wants and she’s the one who drives him crazy. I feel that CC Wood took her time in developing Donnas’ character so that she would be someone that readers can relate to.

The end of the book allows their story to end, however it opens the door to another story with two other characters in the book. It leaves you satisfied but wanting to know more about these other two characters. I can’t wait to read what CC Wood does next with this series. It’s sure to be amazing!
