   Synopsis

The summer Chloe Moore turned fourteen, she was for once, actually happy. She’d finally outgrown her training bras. She was in love. And, for the first time in her life, she was surrounded by true and honest friends.

Back then, they were The Seven, so close they wore their affection like an old pair of jeans.

Back then, they were just kids who couldn’t begin to grasp the consequences of the thing they unleashed.

Back then, innocence was their salvation.

Even so, the horror of what they had done nearly broke them. They fled from it. From each other. For a dozen years they’ve looked away, hoping it wasn’t real. Chloe’s fierce independence has been her shield against it. In her personal fortress of solitude she’s stayed safe. And alone.

But fortresses can be breached. The terror is back and one of them is dead. It’s up to Chloe to gather The Seven again, to save them all from a corruption so deep it could only have emerged from love.

In her debut novel, Natalie K. French brings us a tale of terror and the price we pay to grow up. A poignant mix of nostalgia and horror, romance and fear, Enemy Among Us will touch your heart while it pierces your soul.

Enemy Among Us is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It just has that certain something all great books possess. That magical something that grabs you from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until long after you turn that last page.

Enemy Among Us is one of the creepiest books I’ve read. It’s reminiscent of early Stephen King. I do not recommend reading it at night. It scared the sh&t out of me and literally had me checking all of my windows and doors.

Chloe and Ellie are 2 of our main characters in this book. They spend one summer, in the ’70s of their youth, with their father. It was the best and the worst summer of their lives. There they meet their step brother Ros and 4 of his friends. Brothers Derek and Basil (named after the spice!), Hank, and James. Together they were The 7 and they were inseparable. One day they find a wooden wine box hidden under a bed. When they opened it, they unleashed an evil they were not prepared for. An evil that stalked them for the rest of their lives.

Enemy Among Us is simultaneously creepy and sexy and sweet. The characters, the storyline, the detail…all stunning. Chloe and Derek give me butterflies!

This book is so amazing and perfect. I absolutely loved it and I will not hesitate to read more from this author. Meanwhile, it is nestled safely in it’s new spot on my “favorites” shelf.
