This story follows on from the first book which I had not read before picking this book up for review. I did find myself a little lost in the beginning but the story was easy enough to follow without having read the first book. However I would recommend reading the first, not only because it would make sense but because it is definitely worth picking up another story written by Bethany Shaw.

This story follows Gene as he tries to fill the role of alpha after his father’s death and Natalia, the new alpha femlae in his home. This story starts where I assume the last book left off, with Natalia not trusting the wolves that now care for her. She has being held captive by her own family and lived a life of fear. Finally her and her son are free of them, but finds herself in the middle of a war. She can’t run with her son and must stay with the strangers if she wishes to put an end to her families insanity. But can she trust the new alpha, his pack and their allies?

I really enjoyed this book, I wish I had read the first book but it is now on my list. The story manages to have a developing love story throughout the book that pulls the reader in just as much as the action, betrayal and drama. Anyone who devoured Rachel Vincent’s Shifter series should pick this series up.

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars, because it reminded me of Rachel Vincent and because the story pulls you in and does not let up, at all. I look forward to the next book!
