Deliverance by Veronique Launier (Review by Jessica)

**Review From Jessica For The Nerd Girl Page***

*I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

When I first saw the blurb for this book, I was very excited about it being about Gargoyles! I’m a huge paranormal genre reader and thought a book about Gargoyles would be new and exciting. Unfortunately, the book fell short of my expectations. The characters were flat and I didn’t connect with them. While reading, I felt like I was missing something. Aude, Ramtin and a few other characters are referred to like the reader should know them, should know their stories, but I didn’t and it often left me frustrated and confused. There was a lot of details about the city in the book but no real details of the characters. I thought the story would be focused on Gargoyles, when really it seemed to focus more on what was going on in and around Tehran/Iran. There was no real build of suspense or mystery and the plot didn’t really have a lot of substance, at least for me. I really wanted to like this book and maybe if I go back and read the first book in the series, I may get some insight I felt was lacking throughout the story, I’m not sure. I don’t know that I would recommend this book, right now.
