Smoke, Wings and Stone by Marijon Braden (Review By Emily – YA Reviewer)

** Review By Emily from The Nerd Girl Page**

Emily here, the YA reviewer from Nerd Girl.  I give YA reviews from a real YA reader.  Here is  my review of  Smoke, Wings and Stone  which I was given in exchange for an honest review.

I know people say “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” but that is exactly what I did. Right when I saw this cover, I hoped that I would absolutely love the book, and I was definitely right!

When I started reading the first paragraph I was mesmerized. It was funny and started off with a very incredible hook. From the very  first page it actually had me laughing out loud, and telling everyone in the house what happened.

This novel had everything most teenage girls want in a book! Lovable characters, amazing foreshadowing, a romantic plot and very handsome men. What made this book different from other monster type stories is the type of monsters that are presented. Some of the characters most people would be very familiar with but one of the main characters was something I really wasn’t expecting and that made it great.

I also really enjoyed the fact that it switched to a different point of view for a section, which enabled me to know how them other main character was experiencing from her point.  Sometimes this annoys me but it was done really well here and I think it added a great deal to the story.

Overall I enjoyed this book to the absolute end. If a second one was made, I would definitely make sure it was in my hands, because this story for me is not finished.  I need to know what happens next!
