Melanie here aka VampireLovingDork back with my review of “Of Shadow and Ash” by Stacy Shofner Williams which was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
Of Shadow and Ash is a beautiful debut fantasy novel, that takes you on a journey through a whole new world with so many unexpected twists that for every question you get answered a plethora of new ones spring up to take their place.
The writing is fluid and the characters easy to identify with. The world you enter feels so real sometimes it is hard to step back and rejoin what is actually going on around you.
At one point I had to question if there was going to be a way to bring this book to a satisfying end because personally I would not have been able to do so, but once I read the ending I couldn’t remember why I had any doubts.
My only criticism would be that this is a book that requires your full attention. Which is not necessarily a bad thing but in a busy household sometimes it was difficult to give it the time that I felt it really needed.
Definitely a writer to watch for in the future.
